Abstract: An absorbent article having a front region, a back region and a crotch region there between, said article has substantially longitudinally extending leak barriers, each of said leak barriers having a free laterally inward elasticized side and a laterally outward side, the elasticized side of the leak barrier being raised from the inner cover of the absorbent article. The crotch region along a length of at least 2 cm, preferably at least 5 cm and more preferably at least 10 cm, in longitudinal direction is free from raised leak barriers, while raised leak barriers are present in the front and/or back regions of the article.

Abstract: A method to produce an absorbent article using a blank, includes the following steps: folding the side-edge portions of the side parts of either the rear portion or front portion in towards the inner cover sheet over supports placed on the side parts of this portion and extending along the full length of this portion, folding the blank about a transverse line in the crotch portion so that the end edges of the front portion and rear portion come to lie edge-to-edge and so that the side-edge portions of the folded-in portion overlap the folded-in side-edge portions of the second portion; and welding together the overlapping side-edge portions of the side parts within the area of the supports by way of ultrasonic or thermal welding.

Abstract: An absorbent article includes a front region (2), a back region (3) and a crotch region (4) there between. The article further includes substantially longitudinally extending inner (12) and outer (13) leak barriers alongside each side of the absorbent core (9). The inner and outer leak barriers are spaced from each other in the transverse direction (x) of the article. The inner leak barriers (12) extend at least along the part of the crotch region (4) having the narrowest width (w1) in the transverse direction (x), and along a length (b) of at least 5 cm, and the outer leak barriers (13) extend along at least a part of the front region (2) and/or back region (3) of the article, while at least a part of the crotch region (4) along which said inner leak barriers (12) extend is free from raised outer leak barriers (13).

Abstract: An absorbent article has an elastic waist portion, an absorbent element (5), and a liquid-impermeable outer layer (3) which is intended to enclose the absorbent element on at least that side thereof which faces away from the wearer during use of the article. The absorbent element (5) is in its entirety arranged on the second piece (2). The liquid-impermeable outer layer (3) is breathable, at least over a portion of this which covers the absorbent element (5).

Abstract: A method for producing pant-type absorbent articles, each article including a chassis structure having at least one elastic panel and an integrated absorbent core component, the method including a continuous pant-forming process including forming the chassis structure and incorporating the absorbent core component into the chassis structure. The at least one elastic panel is formed by a) separately producing a two-layer laminate having a first non-elastic fibrous nonwoven web and an elastic film, b) activating the two-layer laminate by incremental stretching in at least one activation direction to render the two-layer laminate (elastically stretchable, c) stretching the activated two-layer laminate by 35-200% in the activation direction, d) introducing the two-layer laminate in the pant-forming process, and e) laminating the elastic film of the stretched two-layer laminate to an elastic or nonwoven chassis component. An absorbent pant-type article produced in accordance with the method.

Abstract: Disposable hygiene pants with a front portion (2), a rear portion (3) and a crotch portion (4) provided with two leg openings (5, 6), the longitudinal edge portions (21, 22) of the front portion being connected by longitudinal weld seams (7, 8) to the longitudinal edge portions (31, 32) of the rear portion (3) in order to form a waist opening (9) and two leg openings (5, 6) in the crotch portion, which leg openings are outwardly delimited in the transverse direction by the inner end portions of the weld seams as seen in the longitudinal direction of the hygiene pants. The hygiene pants have an outer cover (10) and comprise an absorption unit (11). The cover is preferably made of an elastic laminate. The weld seams (7, 8) are each reinforced by at least one reinforcing strip (15, 16) containing thermoplastic fibers and have a tensile strength, in a direction transverse to the weld seam, in excess of 5 N/25.4 mm at least in the portions reinforced with said nonwoven strip (15, 16).

Abstract: A process for manufacturing blanks for disposable pants includes feeding a web having a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction, cutting the web and elastics into a plurality of first and second pant blanks, wherein each of the first pant blanks has a front part extending along a first edge and a back part extending along a second edge and each of the second pant blanks has a front part extending along the second edge and a back part extending along the first edge, wherein the first and second pant blanks are arranged in alternating sequence along the longitudinal direction and wherein the back part of each of the pant blanks is longer than the front part of each of the pant blanks, and cutting first and second cut-out portions from the web, wherein each of the pant blanks is arranged between one of the first cut-out portions and one of the second cut-out portions.

The article comprises at least one attachment element (11) located on the rear portion (6) alternatively the front portion (5) of the article, close to an upper edge (6a, 6b) thereof, whereby the attachment element (11) is intended to be attached against the skin of the user to facilitate centering and application of the article on the user. Preferably the attachment element is arranged inside a perforated line, comprising an indication of fracture.

Abstract: The invention relates to an application drum for use in the production of absorbent articles. The application drum has a longitudinal axis of rotation and comprises material engagement means on the outside thereof for both collecting and delivering a material component. In order to be able to use only a single drum and still be able to place material components more to one or the, other side of the center-line of a conveyor belt, the material engagement means is arranged for reciprocal movement with respect to the drum in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the drum.
