  • Patent number: 5007902
Abstract: The invention provides a catheter set for plexus anesthesia wherein the catheter can be displaced under electric stimulation and the position of the catheter can be checked also afterwards. The catheter set is provided with a puncture cannula, a capillary plugged onto said puncture cannula, and a catheter which can be inserted through said capillary and has an open patient-side end. Into the catheter, a guide wire can be inserted, being provided with an electric contact means at its end distant from the patient and having its patient-side end exposed. The position of the guide wire and the catheter end, respectively, in the fascia can be checked by electric pulses. When the catheter remains set for a longer time period, subsequent insertion of the guide wire makes it possible to monitor and, if need be, correct the position of the catheter at all times.

  • Patent number: 4994036
Abstract: A spinal cannula adapted for insertion into an epidural cannula that may be advanced up to the dura. In placing the end of the spinal cannula intrathecally, the dura is pierced by the spinal cannula. Then, a guide wire is advanced to that intrathecal position through the spinal cannula. After removal of the spinal cannula, a spinal catheter is advanced over the guide wire and within the epidural cannula. The epidural cannula imparts the necessary directional stability to the catheter upon its advancement and facilitates the passage through the dura already perforated by the spinal cannula.

  • Patent number: 4842585
Abstract: The front end of the guide channel of a steel cannula is provided with an oblique guide surface adapted to direct an inserted catheter to the outside in order to project out of the tube. The ground surface surrounding the opening is of funnel wall design. Due to the steel cannula, a catheter may be applied by means of a simple cannula without the probable risk of being cut or damaged.
