Abstract: Oxonol dyes of the formula I ##STR1## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2 mean an optionally substituted furyl or thienyl group,R.sub.3, R.sub.4 mean an aryl group substituted with at least two sulpho groups,L means CH or CR.sub.5,R.sub.5 means C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl andn means 0, 1 or 2,give rise in a photographic material to an improvement in sharpness.

Abstract: A color photographic recording material comprises in a yellow filter layer at least one dye of one of the formulae I and II ##STR1## in which R.sup.1, R.sup.3 and R.sup.5 (mutually independently) mean alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl;R.sup.2 and R.sup.4 (mutually independently) mean hydrogen or alkyl;R.sup.21 means a residue as R.sup.1 ;R.sup.22 means a residue as R.sup.2 ;R.sup.23 means a residue as R.sup.1 ;provided that in formula I none of the residues R.sup.1 to R.sup.5 contains an alkyl chain of more than 3 carbon atoms.The dyes exhibit suitable absorption as yellow filter dyes and are completely decolored during processing.

Abstract: A black & white paper with variable gradation containing a silver chloride-bromide emulsion, which is divided into at least three portions, one of which is sensitised with a blue sensitiser and two further portions are sensitised both with differing quantities of blue sensitiser and with differing quantities of a green sensitiser, wherein the blue sensitiser is of the formula (I) and the green sensitiser is of the formula (II) ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 to R.sub.8, X.sup.(-) and m have the meaning stated in the specification, is distinguished by an extended gradation range.

Abstract: Remarkably high inter-image and edge effects are obtained when DIR-Couplers corresponding to Formula I are added to multilayered color photographic recording materials, in particular to green sensitive or red sensitive layers. The sharpness and color reproduction may thereby be improved. ##STR1## R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 denote alkyl or an aromatic group, R.sup.3 denotes H, alkyl or acylamino,R.sup.4 denotes H or alkylR.sup.5 denotes alkyl, alkinyl, aryl, acyloxy, carbamoyl or a cyclic imido group andn has the value 0 or 1and the total number of carbon atoms in R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 is greater than 3 but not greater than 11.

Abstract: Water-soluble adducts of tertiary amines with heteroaromatic bis- or polyvinyl sulfone compounds are suitable for hardening layers containing proteins as binder.

Abstract: Heteroaromatic vinylsulphone compounds having at least two vinylsulphonyl groups each attached to a carbon atom of a heteroasomatic ring are suitable for hardening proteinic binder layers such as photographic layers containing gelatine as binder.

Abstract: High interimage effects and edge effects can be obtained in multilayer color photographic recording materials if yellow DIR couplers of formula I are used therein, particularly if used in green sensitized or red sensitized layers. Sharpness and color reproduction are substantially improved. ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 denotes a straight chained or branched alkyl group with up to 18 carbon atoms;R.sup.2, R.sup.3 denote identical or different alkyl groups with up to 18 carbon atoms;R.sup.4 denotes H, halogen, alkyl with up to 6 carbon atoms or alkoxy with up to 6 carbon atoms;R.sup.5 denotes H or alkyl with up to 9 carbon atoms; andR.sup.6 denotes a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic group with up to 10 carbon atoms,the total number of carbon atoms in R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 being not less than 5 and not greater than 10.

Abstract: Compounds corresponding to the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 denote alkyl groups with 1 to 8 carbon atoms, an optionally substituted alkenyl group with 2 to 5 carbon atoms, an optionally substituted cycloalkyl group with 5 or 6 carbon atoms or an optionally substituted aryl group or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together represent the ring members required to form a 5- or 6-membered cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl group, are suitable for use as antifoggants in photographic recording materials.

Abstract: Compounds with the structural unit ##STR1## are very valuable UV absorbents, especially in photographic recording materials.

Abstract: Yellow DIR couplers corresponding to formula I below are capable of producing remarkably powerful inhibitory effects on remote layers while their action on the layer containing them is comparatively slight: ##STR1## In the above formula, R.sup.1 represents straight-chained or branched alkyl, optionally substituted aryl or --NR.sup.5 R.sup.6,R.sup.2, R.sup.5 represent H or alkyl with 1 or 2 carbon atoms,R.sup.3, R.sup.6 represent alkyl with 1 to 18 carbon atoms or optionally substituted aryl,R.sup.4 represents alkyl with 5 to 12 carbon atoms, andFu represents a substituted or unsubstituted furyl group.

Abstract: Pyrimidone or thiopyrimidone benzothiazole monomethine cyanines are valuable spectral sensitizers for sensitizing negative silver halide emulsions in the blue region of the spectrum. In contrast to other known monomethine cyanines they have little or no desensitizing effect in the range of inherent sensitivity.

Abstract: Non-aqueous inks having an electric conductivity of at least 10.sup.-4 Ohm.sup.-1 cm.sup.-1, a viscosity of at most 5 cP at 20.degree. C. and in which the liquid medium consists completely or predominantly of one or more solvents having each an evaporation index of less than 11 are most useful for the ink-jet recording process in which a jet of ink is ejected from a nozzle by application of pressure and after its breaking up into droplets is modulated according to the information to be recorded. Such inks are particularly useful for writing on non-absorbent surfaces.

Abstract: Photographic materials containing in at least one photographic layer as antihalation- or filter-dyes mono-, tri- or pentamethineoxonoles of 1-sulfolanyl pyrazolones, which dyes can be easily decolorized and washed out on treatment of the photographic material in photographic processing.

Abstract: Sensitization of silver halide emulsions by merocyanines and cationic cyanines and the stability of this sensitization is improved by addition of heterocyclically substituted thioureas of the formula ##EQU1## wherein R.sup.1 is alkyl, alkenyl or arylR.sup.2 is alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryln is 0 or 1, andZ completes a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic group, preferably one which also contains a sulfur atom.
