  • Patent number: 6408930
Abstract: An adjustable plate mold includes two broad-side walls and first and second narrow-side walls clampable between the two broad-side walls to define a size if a slab formable by the plate mold. A frame work includes cassette holders corresponding to the narrow-side walls. Actuating elements are inserted in the cassette holders and connected to the first and second narrow-side walls for moving the first and second side walls to change the size of the slab formable by the plate mold. The framework also includes a holding part for maintaining the narrow-side walls at a constant horizontal level relative to the cassette holders.

  • Patent number: 6234301
Abstract: A strand guide, in particular for a continuous slab-casting plant for steel, with supporting segments in which frames are arranged that have rows of guide rollers and driving rollers arranged opposite one another, wherein the frames are held opposite one another by tie rods. Two guide members are provided at one end of a frame at equal distance from the center axis. The guide members are fastened to at least one fixed point via holding elements and are arranged conically at an opening angle relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 5771957
Abstract: A device for the continuous casting of steel, consisting of a continuous casting mold which oscillates in the casting direction, is mounted on springs clamped at both ends which extend transverse to the direction of casting, and is connected with a hydraulic oscillation drive. The the hydraulic oscillation drives are servo-hydraulic cylinders, arranged in a longitudinal sectional plane placed through the continuous casting mold laterally alongside the continuous casting mold, the servo-hydraulic cylinders are firmly connected, free of play, to a support frame and with the continuous casting mold.

  • Patent number: 5727615
Abstract: A mold arrangement for the production of endless castings of metal, particularly slabs of steel, having copper plates for the wide sides of the mold which rest on coolable support plates, and narrow sides which can be clamped between the wide sides. Additionally, an oscillating device is connected with the support plates. The support plates are trough-shaped in the region of the mold wide sides. Channels are provided in the wall of the support plates for the passage of a cooling fluid. Electromagnetic structural parts arranged on mounting frames can be freely introduced into the trough free space which faces away from the wide sides.

  • Patent number: 5201909
Abstract: The mold continuous casting of metals includes a stationary base frame; a support plate within the base frame, the support plate including first and second opposed sides; a metallic shaping wall mounted on the support plate and having a longitudinal axis in the direction of casting; a carrier plate attached to the base frame; a plurality of spring elements each having two ends and being uniformly distributed over and fastened at one end thereof to the first side of the support plate, the other ends of the spring elements being fastened to the carrier plate, the first side of the support plate facing away from the shaping wall, the spring elements extending in a direction transverse to the direction of casting and having a stiffness which is substantially less in the direction of casting than in the two directions transverse thereto.

  • Patent number: 4627481
Abstract: A refractory conduit assembly for the transfer of molten steel from a discharge vessel to an ingot mold of a horizontal continuous casting plant includes a replaceable spout member adapted to be removably connected at a predetermined location to the refractory lining of a vessel. The spout member has therethrough a discharge channel to receive from the interior of the vessel a flow of molten steel. A shut off device is provided to interrupt the flow to the discharge channel. A casting tube has therethrough a flow passage with inlet and outlet ends. A coupling device connects the inlet end of the flow passage to the discharge channel, such that the flow of molten metal passes through the casting tube. The outlet end of the flow passage has an altered cross-sectional configuration adapted to that of the ingot mold. A nozzle has an inlet end connected to the casting tube and an outlet end having thereat a portion to sealingly contact walls of the ingot mold.

  • Patent number: 4544018
Abstract: In order to be able to manipulate a feeding device with which molten steel is introduced into a twin-belt caster without ingress of air in preparation for the casting process and to carefully align the feeding device and the caster to the required extent, the feeding device includes a pouring body which is mounted in its own carriage so as to be rotatable about a horizontal pivot axis, and a separately movable tundish which is connected with the pouring body via a ball joint which forms the point of separation in that the ball socket of the ball joint and the ball pivot of the ball pivot are each respectively associated with either the tundish or the pouring body. The pouring body can be arrested in the manner of a rocker in different sloped positions and can be laterally displaced in a direction transverse to its longitudinal extent.
