  • Patent number: 6890508
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing largely HBr-free HCl gas and largely HBr-free aqueous HCl solution, which comprises the following steps: a) providing HBr-containing HCl gas; b) passing the HBr-containing HCl gas through aqueous HCl solution saturated with HCl; c) separating off HBr-containing aqueous HCl solution saturated with HCl; d) if desired, passing the largely HBr-free HCl gas obtained in step b) into water to obtain largely HBr-free aqueous HCl solution; with largely HBr-free aqueous HCl solution produced in step d) being able, if desired, to be recirculated to step b) of the process. The process of the present invention allows high-purity aqueous HCl solution for use in the semiconductor industry to be prepared inexpensively and on an industrial scale. However, the purified HCl gas obtained by means of steps a) to c) can also be used for any other purposes. The invention likewise provides an apparatus for carrying out the process of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 4551321
Abstract: A process for the preparation of zeolites of the ZSM-5 structural type from a mixture of SiO.sub.2 and Al(OH).sub.3 by hydrothermal crystallization in an aqueous amine solution, in the absence of alkali, at from 100.degree. to 200.degree. C., wherein the crystallization is carried out in the presence of a triamine, tetraamine and/or higher amine and the reaction mixture is formulated to have an SiO.sub.2 /Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 molar ratio defined by an equation which involves the chain length and number of amine groups of the amine employed, as well as to have certain molar ratios of H.sub.2 O/amine and amine/Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, and the use of these zeolites as catalysts for the conversion of alcohols and/or dialkyl ethers to olefins and/or aromatics.

  • Patent number: 4360504
Abstract: The reaction off-gas from the synthesis of melamine consists, after separating off the melamine, mainly of ammonia and carbon dioxide, with traces of hydrogen cyanide, isocyanic acid, urea and residual melamine. To remove these trace components, the off-gas is passed over a catalyst, containing copper oxide and/or iron oxide, in the presence of steam at from 100.degree. to 500.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4237318
Abstract: In a process for the manufacture of sodium dithionite by reacting sulfur dioxide with sodium formate and aqueous sodium hydroxide solution in the presence of methanol, an aqueous methanolic solution of sodium formate is first produced by reacting carbon monoxide with sodium hydroxide solution in an aqueous medium, containing from 1 to 50% by weight of methanol, based on the amount of water, at from 80 to 120.degree. C. under a pressure of from 10 to 40 bars. The resulting aqueous methanolic solution can be reacted directly, in the conventional manner, with sulfur dioxide and aqueous sodium hydroxide solution to give sodium dithionite.
