  • Publication number: 20070000295
Abstract: An electronic key for operating a lock includes a housing having an electronic circuit for remotely operating the lock. A holding fixture is in the housing for receiving a key bit longitudinally displaced into the housing in order to removably hold the key bit within the housing. The holding fixture removably holds the key bit within the housing to enable the key bit to be longitudinally displaced out from the housing to enable the key bit to mechanically operate the lock. A retaining element includes an eyelet for attaching or hanging the electronic key. The retaining element is movably arranged in the housing such that the retaining element and the eyelet are concealed within the housing when the holding fixture is holding a key bit and such that the eyelet protrudes from the housing when the holding fixture is void of a key bit.

  • Patent number: 6557386
Abstract: A device for blocking the turnability of the steering spindle 3 of a motor vehicle contains a movable interlocking element 14 that is situated in a lock chamber 12 and engages into the steering spindle 3 in its locked position, as well as an actuating device 9 for actuating the interlocking element 14. This device is characterized by the fact that the lock chamber 12 is passively secured against manipulative access by electric/electronic operating components K required for driving the motor vehicle. This is realized by arranging these operating components K in such a position relative to the lock chamber 12 that the function of at least one operating component K is terminated if manipulative access is attempted.

  • Patent number: 6452148
Abstract: An optoelectronic monitoring device for a vehicle includes a single optical sensor array having a grid of optical sensor elements. Each optical sensor element generates an electronic signal in response to optical signals imaged onto the optical sensor elements. Optical imaging systems image respective optical signals onto the optical sensor array. The optical signals of each optical imaging system is representative of a monitored condition of a vehicle. The optical imaging systems form a single physical unit which is fixed with respect to the optical sensor array. Each optical imaging system is associated with a respective optical sensor element group of the optical sensor array such that the respective optical signal of each optical imaging system is imaged onto the respective optical sensor element group. The optical sensor elements are configurable by a processor to be arranged in optical sensor element groups for being associated with respective optical imaging systems.

  • Patent number: 6420697
Abstract: A steering wheel angle sensor includes first and second sensors, a differential gear, and a detector. The first sensor determines steering wheel angular position within one revolution and the second sensor determines number of steering wheel revolutions. The first sensor has a first rotor carrying a first coding. The first rotor and the first coding rotate as the steering wheel rotates. The second sensor has a second rotor and a second coding movable by the second rotor. The gear includes driving, reference, and planetary wheels for coupling the rotors such that the rotors rotate at different speeds with respect to one another as the steering wheel rotates. The second rotor engages with a pivoted lever into an arm carrying the second coding such that the second coding pivots as the second rotor rotates. The detector scans the first coding within an angular segment of the steering wheel range of rotation as the first coding rotates.

  • Patent number: 6220738
Abstract: A device for motor vehicles is proposed which comprises a pictograph which is disposed in an at least partially transparent device part, can be optically highlighted by light beams and is produced by means of a process of influencing the material of the device part in a mechanical manner. In order to form three-dimensional pictographs in any color, the pictograph is produced in the material of an originally homogenous component of the device part and the pictograph is allocated a light coupling-in site, which is located on a lateral region of the component, in such a manner that the pictograph is at least partially captured and illuminated accordingly by the light beam bundle which is coupled via said light coupling-in site into the component.

  • Patent number: 5813699
Abstract: A steering device for motor vehicles having a steering column positionable in the axial and/or radial direction, in each case over a preset displacement range, via at least one positioning device actuated by external force. Locking of the steering column is implementable by a positioning device such that, when the motor vehicle is switched off, the steering column is positioned thereby into a position lying outside the displacement range(s) in which a torsional force exerted on the steering column via the steering wheel is not transmittable to the steering gear.
