    Abstract: A system for identifying an electrical phase of three conductors in a three-phase electrical system at an open end is provided. The system includes a transmitter and a receiver unit. The transmitter unit has three current transformers configured to removably couple with one of the three conductors adjacent the transformer. The transmitter unit further having a first communication device configured to transmit a phase identification signal indicating at least one electrical phase detected on one of the three conductors. The receiver unit has a first output lead configured to removably couple at the open end with a first conductor and a second output lead configured to couple with a second conductor. The receiver unit is configured to transmit a trace current onto the first output lead. The receiver further displays phase identification information in response to receiving the phase identification signal.

A field sampling unit is placed on or directly adjacent a field conductor at a field location and transmits a signal representative of the voltage waveform of the field conductor. A field unit receives and digitizes the waveform received from the field sampling unit, receives the digitized voltage waveform from the reference unit, and compares the digitized field waveform and the digitized reference waveform. Also provided are methods for commissioning the phase identification system and calibrating the reference unit.

    Abstract: A capacitor bank status monitoring, control and reporting system for use with a capacitor bank with “wye”-connected capacitors having a common neutral confluence and that can be switched in and out of a multi-phase high-voltage power distribution system. There is a first sensing device that detects the current flowing between the common neutral confluence of the capacitors and a common neutral wire of the distribution system and a second sensing device that detects the voltage of at least one sensed phase of the distribution system. There is an electrical device that controls the switched state of at least one of the capacitors. There is a controller, responsive to the first and second sensing devices, for providing reporting information concerning the status of the capacitor bank and concerning the determined voltage. A wireless communications system transmits the reporting information to a remote location, and receives information from the remote location and provides it to the controller.
