  • Patent number: 4394849
Abstract: A vapor generator in which a plurality of tubes are connected together and arranged to form at least a portion of the boundary walls of a gas-tight enclosure. Portions of the tubes are bent to form a plurality of openings extending through at least one of the boundary walls. Some of the bent tube portions extend around the openings in the plane of the wall, and others of the bent tube portions extend out of the plane of the wall. The tubes, including the bent portions, extend at an angle with respect to a horizontal plane for their entire lengths to enable the tubes to drain. A burner is associated with each opening to apply heat to the enclosure, and fluid is passed through the tubes to apply heat to the fluid.

  • Patent number: 4240234
Abstract: There is disclosed an adjustable buckstay system for use in association with the walls of vapor generators or the like and whereby the magnitude of necessary clearances in various connecting elements of the system may be adjusted to reduce or eliminate vibration in the system.

Inventors: Frantisek L. Eisinger, Harry H. Pratt, Clarence C. Eich
  • Patent number: 4226279
Abstract: A method of suppressing formation of heat exchange fluid particles into standing waves is provided. Pursuant to the method a plurality of metal fins attached to a plurality of tube sections extending within a shell are disposed within a heat exchanger shell such that the fins extend parallel to the tube sections and parallel to the direction of flow of fluid through the shell. The fins define with the tube sections a barrier adapted to interrupt movement of columns of fluid particles in a direction perpendicular to the direction of flow of fluid through the shell.

  • Patent number: 4198930
Abstract: A vapor generator which includes an upright furnace section the boundary walls of which are formed by a plurality of tubes for passing fluid through the length of the furnace section to convert a portion of the fluid to vapor or to heat the fluid. One portion of the tubes forming one of the boundary walls are bent out of the plane of the latter wall for connection to a plurality of headers. A single tube extends upwardly from each of the headers in fluid communication with the other tubes connected to said header, with the single tubes being disposed in a spaced relationship to form a screen for the passage of combustion gases from the furnace section to a heat recovery section disposed adjacent the furnace section.

  • Patent number: 4178881
Abstract: A vapor generating system in which a vapor generating section and a superheating section are connected in a series flow relationship with a fluid separating section extending between the vapor generating section and the superheating section. The vapor generating section includes an upright furnace section formed by a plurality of tubes, a portion of which extend at an angle with respect to the horizontal plane for passing fluid through the length of the furnace section to convert a portion of the fluid to vapor or to heat the fluid.

  • Patent number: 4175519
Abstract: A vapor generator including an upright furnace section the boundary walls of which are formed by a plurality of tubes, a portion of which extend at an angle with respect to a horizontal plane. Fluid is passed through the length of the furnace section to convert a portion of the fluid to vapor or to heat the fluid. A plurality of vertical bars are provided which define support surfaces for the tubes and which are welded to the tubes for supporting same.

  • Patent number: 4145997
Abstract: A furnace enclosure is provided in which one wall includes tubes of different passes which are free to move longitudinally relative to each other. A seal plate and filler means are disposed outside of the enclosure to provide for gas-tightness.
