  • Patent number: 9511332
Abstract: An energy-saving static stirring apparatus for automatically stirring a fluid includes a deflector adapted for stationary placement in a container that holds a fluid for boiling. The deflector may include at least one friction contact point for frictionally engaging the container to prevent movement of the deflector. An inner portion of the deflector may be configured for placement proximate to a center of the container. An outer portion of the deflector may be configured for placement proximate to a side of the container. One or more deflector ramps define one or more vent openings to impart lateral movement to heated fluid currents and/or vapor bubbles moving upwardly away from a heat source below the container and to redirect the fluid currents and/or vapor bubbles into a swirling motion that stirs the fluid without movement of the deflector.

  • Patent number: 8881746
Abstract: A reusable self-heating hair roller includes a fluid holding body containing a supercoolable fluid. The fluid holding body may be implemented in many ways, including as non-permeable, incorruptible, air-tight film, bladder or casing. The supercoolable fluid, such as sodium acetate or equivalent, uses thermochemistry to produce on command an exothermic crystallization process that generates the heat needed to style and or curl the hair. A nucleation initiator initiates a nucleation event that propagates the crystallization to harnesses the latent heat of fusion and create the heat. The nucleation initiator may be situated so that it is generally sequestered or otherwise held in a way where it is prevented from free floating within the supercoolable fluid, yet at the same time remains in full communication with the fluid.

  • Patent number: 8757418
Abstract: A self-anchoring, low profile container anchor with directional release and attachment capability comprises a lower base member, an upper movable member adapted for attachment to a container, and a seal member on the base member. The seal member is configured to engage an external reference surface and form a substantially airtight seal therewith that defines a periphery of a controlled pressure zone. A sealing valve disposed on a valve seat is operably connected to the movable member for lifting off the valve seat and vent the controlled pressure zone when the movable member is raised a first predetermined distance. However, the movable member can tilt a second predetermined tilting distance without the sealing valve lifting off the valve seat, thus providing tilt resistance.

  • Patent number: 8028850
Abstract: A self-anchoring beverage container with directional release and attachment capability has a flexible nonporous base member adapted to seal to a reference surface and create a controlled pressure zone. A receptacle assembly is mounted to the base member and includes a beverage holding chamber. A communication channel in the receptacle assembly extends from the controlled pressure zone to an area of ambient pressure. A pressure control device on the receptacle assembly is adapted to alternately close the communication channel to seal the controlled pressure zone and open the communication channel to vent the controlled pressure zone to ambient pressure. The receptacle assembly further includes a grasping portion arranged to be grasped by a user. The pressure control device is operatively connected to the grasping portion for actuation to the open position when a user grasps the grasping portion during normal lifting of the beverage container from the reference surface.

  • Publication number: 20100105307
Abstract: A hand-operable meat preparation device includes a handle, a meat tenderizer controllable through the handle to tenderize a cut of meat while introducing vibrational or other work forces therein, and a marinator controllable through the handle to internally marinate the meat with assistance from the vibrational or other work forces introduced by the tenderizer. During use, a person grasps the handle and tenderizes the meat with the meat tenderizer while marinating the meat with the marinator as the tenderizer sets up the vibrational or other work forces in the meat to assist the marination.

  • Publication number: 20090165811
Abstract: A hair curling system includes a base heating unit, a hair roller, and a hair cover. The base heating unit generates and transports steam (or another medium) to the hair roller for heating and moisturizing the roller. The steam medium carries a separate hair treatment composition for treating the hair. The steam medium and the hair treatment composition are transferred to hair wound on the hair roller and covered by the hair cover. The transfer takes place within a thermally quarantined zone between the hair roller and the hair cover. An optional temperature control system may be provided for independently heating or cooling the hair cover to a temperature that provides a desired temperature gradient between the hair roller and the hair cover. One or more of an optional ionizer, crystal or mineral unit or material may also be provided to further influence the hair treatment.

  • Publication number: 20060023974
Abstract: A dual compartment bag is disclosed. The bag has a central panel with the two compartments being located on opposing sides of the central panel. The two other panels are positioned flat on opposing sides of the central panel, and fixed to the central panel around the perimeter of the panels. One edge of the perimeter of the central panel and a first of the other panels is not closed and another edge of the perimeter of the central panel and the second of the other panels is not closed. These unclosed edges provide access to the spaces between the central panel and the other panels in a preferred embodiment and these openings are located at opposing ends from each other around the perimeter of the bag. One of the edges at each opening may have a flap extending from the edge. The flap may have an adhesive strip for holding the flap closed and sealing the compartment.
