    Abstract: A medium writing apparatus obtains information to be written onto a recording medium, converts the information into a suitable writable format, and then writes the converted information onto the recording medium. An ID obtaining section obtains a medium ID from the recording medium, or through an input by the user. The medium ID and information indicating the place of the written information are sent to a server, and then stored as index information correlating them with each other. When the information written onto the recording medium is to be used at a later timing, the medium ID is identified, and the index information is obtained from the server. Therefore, the original information can be obtained so as to be easily reprocessed-or reused.

    Abstract: A light modulation medium comprises a light modulation element having a pair of substrates and plural light modulation layers arranged between the substrates to form a multilayer structure and made of cholesteric liquid crystal adapted to change the liquid crystal orientation in response to application of a predetermined electric field, in which the ratio of the threshold electric field at which the liquid crystal orientation is moved from a planar state to a focal conic state of a first light modulation layer of the light modulation element to that of a second light modulation layer is not less than 0.3 and the ratio of the dielectric constant in a planar state of liquid crystal orientation of the first light modulation layer to that of the second light modulation layer is not less than 4.

Display layers having cholesteric liquid crystals selectively reflecting blue, green, and red lights are stacked between a pair of substrates, and a light absorption layer is formed on the back of the substrate of a non-display side. Threshold voltages of orientation change of the display layers are mutually changed, and a threshold voltage Vpf90(A) of change from a planar state to a focal conic state of the display layer having the highest threshold voltage is made higher than a threshold voltage Vfh90(C) of change from a focal conic state to a homeotropic state of the display layer having the lowest threshold voltage.

The photoconductive switching element has at least a light transmissible electrode layer, a charge generation layer, a charge transfer layer, and a charge generation layer laminated in this order on a light transmissible substrate. The photoconductive switching element is combined with a functional element to form a device of the present invention, and the device is incorporated in an apparatus or a recording apparatus to fabricate an apparatus or a recording apparatus respectively of the present invention.

The display layers are stacked between substrates and a light absorption layer is provided. An image writing apparatus is formed separately from the storage medium and provides write electrodes sandwiching the storage medium.

    Abstract: A mixture of wheat and a suitable amount of water is kneaded to form dough, which is fed into a cylinder and extruded through a die at a pressure of 50 kg/cm.sup.2 or higher into an atmosphere having a degree of vacuum of not higher than 650 mmHg. The resulting strands are cut to desired lengths and dried to a moisture content of 26.+-.4%. The dried strands are put in heat-resistant packages, which are sealed and sterilized by heating the contents at a temperature between 70.degree. and 95.degree. C. The resulting pasta can be reconstituted to the ready-to-eat state by boiling for about 4 minutes.
