Patent number: 5642619Abstract: A gas generating device for use in a vehicle in the event of a collision has a hammer pin, a gas generator and a hammer pin trigger device. The gas generator includes a detonator, which is accommodated in a housing for being fired when struck by a hammer pin, and a gas-generating chemical reagent arranged in adjacent to the detonator. In the event of a collision of the vehicle, the hammer pin trigger device causes the hammer pin to strike the detonator. The gas generator has a cover arranged to substantially close an opening in the detonator. The opening faces the hammer pin trigger device. The cover has a hammer pin insertion hole configured to receive the hammer pin. The hammer pin insertion hole of the cover has an inner diameter not greater than 1 mm to prevent leakage of high-temperature and high-pressure gas, which is produced as a result of explosive burning of said gas-generating chemical reagent, to the side of said hammer pin trigger device.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1996Date of Patent: July 1, 1997Assignee: NSK Ltd.Inventors: Masuo Matsuki, Haruyuki Ikesue

Patent number: 5461983Abstract: A gas generating device is constructed of a gas generator, a hammer pin trigger device and a gas guide slot. The gas generator has a detonator. The hammer pin trigger device has a hammer pin arranged movably toward the detonator so that the hammer pin is caused to strike and fire the detonator. The gas guide slot is formed at a joint portion between the gas generator and the hammer pin trigger device for guiding gas, which occurs upon firing the detonator, in a specific direction to an outside of the gas generating device.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1994Date of Patent: October 31, 1995Assignee: NSK Ltd.Inventors: Masuo Matsuki, Haruyuki Ikesue

Patent number: 5407148Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a seat belt tightening device including a driving unit having excellent properties which assures that an intensity of webbing tightening power and a quantity of webbing tightening activity can easily be increased, and moreover, acceptable webbing tightening properties can be obtained with the seal belt tightening device. A driving unit 4 for a pretensioner disposed on one side wall of a retractor base 18 includes a pair of gas generators 8 and 9 which are arranged on the base end side of a cylinder 5. At the time of vehicle collision, a piston 6 slidably received in the cylinder 5 is driven by the explosion pressure derived from explosion of an explosive filled in both the gas generators 8 and 9, whereby a webbing winding shaft is rotated in such a direction that the loosened state of a seat belt can be eliminated.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 1993Date of Patent: April 18, 1995Assignee: NSK Ltd.Inventors: Katsuyasu Ono, Haruyuki Ikesue, Ryohei Yamauchi

Patent number: 4377888Abstract: A buckle body has a base member, a latch member for engaging with a tongue, and a push button member for operating the latch member. The latch member is generally rectangular and is pivotably supported in the opposed holes of the base member while being biased to a tongue-locking position. The push button member operates the latch member by means of legs contacting the side edge portions of the latch member which extend outwardly through the opposed holes of the base member.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1980Date of Patent: March 29, 1983Assignee: NSK-Warner K. K.Inventor: Haruyuki Ikesue

Patent number: 4373830Abstract: The invention relates to a method for coupling a stranded cable assembly adapted for use in, for instance, a seat belt for automobiles, to a fitting. This method comprises inserting a sleeve into an opening provided in the fitting, inserting the mounting end of the stranded cable assembly into the sleeve and applying pressure onto the upper and lower sides of the sleeve in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction thereof to thereby secure said assembly to said sleeve and, at the same time, permit the sleeve to eat into the fitting.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1980Date of Patent: February 15, 1983Assignee: NSK-Warner K.K.Inventor: Haruyuki Ikesue

Patent number: 4339854Abstract: The buckle assembly includes a cover member, a base member, a latch member movably supported by the base member, and latch member operating means. The latch member is slidable in a direction normal to a tongue inserting direction between a tongue latching position and a tongue unlatching position, and the latch member operating means comprises a push button slidable in a direction parallel to the tongue inserting direction and a lever member rotatable about a axis normal to both of the tongue inserting and latch member sliding directions, so that a sliding movement of the push button may cause a movement of the latch member from the tongue latching position to tongue unlatching position, through a rotational movement of the lever member.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 1980Date of Patent: July 20, 1982Assignee: NSK-Warner K.K.Inventor: Haruyuki Ikesue

Patent number: 4260118Abstract: A retractor for seat belt provided with an emergency locking mechanism is disclosed. The retractor comprises a webbing taking-up means, an inertia sensing means, a locking means and an operating means. The inertia sensing means directly senses by means of inertia a change in speed of vehicle when the change of vehicle speed exceeds a predetermined level. When the inertia sensing means senses such change of vehicle speed beyond the predetermined level, the locking means interlocked with the inertia sensing means is brought into operation to lock the pulling out of the webbing from the webbing take-up means. The operating means is movable between a first position in which it allows a free movement of the locking means and a second position in which it restrains the movement of the locking means. When there is no need for emergency locking, the operating means is held in its second position by an external order issued from the outside of the retractor.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1979Date of Patent: April 7, 1981Assignee: NSK-Warner K.K.Inventor: Haruyuki Ikesue
