The device may include a light configured to emit light at varying levels of intensity in synchronization with the varying volumes of the sound output by the device. The intensity of light output by the device may increase during an inhalation period of the cadence and decrease during an exhalation period of the cadence. The cadence may vary to assist in calming, or detect the user’s breathing pattern and automatically provide an optimal light and sound combination to achieve calming. The sound output by the device may be noise, such as white noise, pink noise, or Brown noise or recording of a breath or any other sound considered calming.
