Abstract: A software framework and method for generating a vehicle information system includes a communications manager that manages data inputs and outputs between the framework and vehicle devices, a data warehouse that registers abstract versions of vehicle device data, and a display manager that controls data display on a user interface. The data in the data warehouse is stored in an abstract format, without reference to the specific protocol or platform used to obtain the data, to make the data accessible to modular applications and devices for generating a vehicle information system display.

Abstract: A system and method for effectuating messaging between a first unit and a target unit by using a communication framework and one or more transport modules is provided. The system may include at least one application program operable to originate to and terminate electronic messages from a target unit. The transport modules provided for exchanging with the target unit the electronic messages that are originated to and terminated from the at least one application program. The at least one transport module is adapted to provide connectivity to the target unit via at least one of a plurality of networks. The communication framework adapted to select one or more of the transport modules based on dynamic-delivery policies, and in turn, to pass between the selected transport modules and the application program the electronic messages originated to and terminated from the target unit.

Abstract: In an ellipsometer, a phase-modulated, polarized light beam is applied to a sample, electrical signals are obtained representing the orthogonal planes of polarization of the light after it has interacted with the sample and the constants of the sample are calculated from the two resulting electrical signals. The phase modulation is sufficiently small so that the calibration errors are negligible. For this purpose, the phase modulator, phase modulates the light within a range of no more than ten degrees peak to peak. The two electrical signals are expanded by Fourier analysis and the coefficients thereof utilized to calculate psi and delta.
