  • Patent number: 5052425
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the volume stream of a sub-quantity which is continuously removed from a gas stream and which is supplied and mixed with a gaseous dilutant stream, the sub-quantity is conducted from the main stream through a back-up region where the control of the flow of sub-quantity without affecting its composition is effected by a counterflow in a back-up region which is controllably directed in opposition to the sub-quantity flow such as by an annular upstream directed gap surrounding the sub-quantity conduit or by openings which are directed in a direction against the sub-quantity flow or by a pipe directing a flow against the discharge end of the sub-quantity flow. The sub-quantity flow is mixed in a mixing tunnel with a dilution gas and a small quantity of this mixed gas is removed for testing.

  • Patent number: 4809540
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for the evaluation of a starter motor current or of a magnitude proportional to it for determining the relative compressions of the cylinders of an internal combustion engine, in order to eliminate the distortion of the compression relationships between the individual cylinders, account is taken of the current/speed characteristic of the starter motor. Using a direct current series motor as the starter, from the starter current there is derived a magnitude N proportional to the actual speed according to the relationship N =1/i+k*i where i is the motor current. The correction factor K serves to take account of the departure of the characteristic from a hyperbolic curve.

  • Patent number: 4711129
Abstract: A pressure sensor which comprises one or more measuring elements situated in a housing and a plate membrane sealing the housing against the medium to be measured and being attached to the measuring element on order to transmit the pressure to be measured, the plate membrane having curved or conically-shaped part which extends into the interior of the housing and compensates for temperature shock drifting.

  • Patent number: 4467433
Abstract: The device comprises an evaluation unit and at least one transducer for feeding the electric signal to this unit on the occurrence of a characteristic event and the evaluation unit comprises a recognition unit sensing the occurence of the characteristic event. To permit determination of the trigger point characterizing the occurrence of the characteristic event also in the case of heavily noise-contaminated measuring signals the evaluation unit is provided with one or several comparators in addition to the recognition unit, whose thresholds are spaced out over a certain range of levels, and--depending on whether the transducer signal has reached the threshold of the recognition unit--by using the information contained in the evaluation unit, which is influenced by the sequence of the comparator responses according to the signal shape delivered by the transducer, for determination of the trigger point characterizing the occurence of the characteristic event, in a manner predetermined in the evaluation unit.

  • Patent number: 4447742
Abstract: A partitioning circuit will partition into subintervals the time interval between two signals delivered by a recognition circuit, and will activate a gate circuit during one of these intervals which has been predetermined. In addition to the recognition circuit, the sequence of signals from a sensor responding to the occurrence of an at least approximately periodic event, is fed to a comparator circuit which will transmit a pulse to the gate circuit each time a certain signal level has been exceeded. If the gate is active, this pulse will be available for further processing.

  • Patent number: 4443787
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed, for measuring the angular position of a shaft of a machine at the occurrence of an event originating from the operation of the machine, relative to a reference position of the shaft. The apparatus comprises a first sensor responsive to the reference position of the shaft (signal II) and a second sensor which, on the occurrence of the event, produces an output pulse and which produces a number of interference pulses in the periods between production of the output pulses (signal I). A comparator (4) having a threshold value which is capable of being exceeded both by the required pulses and the interference pulses, and a recognition circuit (3,6) which is adapted to recognize output pulses produced on the occurrence of the event, are arranged to control an evaluation circuit such as a counter (10). The evaluation circuit ascertains, e.g.
