  • Publication number: 20080026175
Abstract: To achieve proper lubrication, a bearing housing or reservoir is filled with a predetermined amount of lubricant. When the machine, of which a bearing is a component, is operated, a flexible flinger disc provides proper lubrication by disturbance of the lubricant.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 13, 2007
    Publication date: January 31, 2008
Inventors: Heinz Bloch, Rojean Thomas, Daniel Freeland, Jeffrey Malinowski

  • Patent number: 4324103
Abstract: A method and apparatus for regulating a steam turbine comprising at least one resuperheater arranged between a high pressure section and a low pressure section and in which a reference-actual valve comparison of the rotational speed is performed to produce an adjustment signal derived from the reference-value actual-value difference which is delivered to a regulation valve arrangement and wherein a delayed feedback signal is derived from only one vapor pressure high pressure side measuring pressure, between the inlet valves of the high pressure section and the inlet of the resuperheater, and which at least approximately decreases to null during steady-state operation; and said signal is coupled into the regulation circuit opposite to the adjustment signal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 22, 1979
Date of Patent: April 13, 1982
Assignee: BBC Brown, Boveri & Company Limited
    Inventor: Heinz Bloch
  • Patent number: 4184337
Abstract: A method of, and apparatus for, regulating a resuperheated steam turbine wherein there is carried out a reference value-actual value comparison of the rotational speed and there is derived an adjustment or control magnitude from the reference value-actual value difference, this adjustment magnitude being infed to a regulation valve arrangement. There is derived from the resuperheated pressure a feedback magnitude which, as a function of time, yields to null and is coupled into a regulation circuit opposite to the adjustment magnitude.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 5, 1978
Date of Patent: January 22, 1980
Assignee: BBC Brown Boveri & Company Limited
    Inventor: Heinz Bloch
  • Patent number: 4166762
Abstract: A control loop for regulating the magnitude of a variable quantity of an apparatus to a reference value, for example the steam pressure in the output line from a boiling water reactor, wherein the instantaneous magnitude of the steam pressure is compared with a reference value and the difference therebetween is used to regulate a valve in the steam line in such manner as to eliminate the difference. The control loop also includes one resonance filter for the regulating medium whose resonant frequency coincides with the frequency at which the control loop, in the absence of such a filter, would become unstable.

  • Patent number: 4091450
Abstract: Method and apparatus for controlling the set point for steam temperatures for cold start-up of a steam generator-turbine unit wherein inlet steam temperature and turbine load absorption are steadily and substantially simultaneously increased in accordance with a predetermined relationship so as to reach their final values substantially synchronously.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4071870
Abstract: Apparatus for generating minimally delayed closing instructions for turbine valves of turbo-generator sets in the event of power system short circuits wherein major faults resulting in a drop in the system voltage are detected and act upon the valve means controlling the fluid flow to the turbine in such manner that a rapid closure of the valve means prevents the turbo-generator from falling out of step in the case of a sustained fault condition. A provisional valve-closing signal is produced upon a predetermined drop in the system voltage but this is cancelled in the event that the ensuing acceleration of the turbo-generator set does not increase to a predetermined level within two revolutions of the set.
