  • Patent number: 4465880
Abstract: Methyl chloride is manufactured from methanol and hydrogen chloride in the gaseous phase in the presence of an aluminum oxide catalyst. The reaction is carried out in the presence of from 1 to 80 liters of oxygen per kg of methanol.

  • Patent number: 4423883
Abstract: A steering arrangement for motor vehicles wherein two steerable wheels are coupled with a steering gear arm which is connected to a steering column. The steering gear arm is divided into at least two parts with one part of the steering gear arm being associated with each steerable wheel. At least one sun gear is mounted to the steering column which mates with planetary gears of a pair of planetary gear carriers. The planetary gear of each planetary carrier mates with an outside gear which forms a secondary drive for a part of the steering gear segment arm. A locking device is provided in order to enable an alternative locking of the planetary gear and the outside gear.

  • Patent number: 4091272
Abstract: An arrangement for effectively excluding the effects of disturbance pulses in the operation of an infra-red remote control system (e.g., for channel switching of a television receiver) is described. Facilities are provided on the transmitting side of the remote control arrangement for encoding the pulse interval of a chain of pulses derived from a quartz crystal-controlled oscillator with the intelligence contained in a selected one of a plurality of command signals for the channel switching function. The resulting encoded pulses are converted into a form suitable for modulating a high-frequency chain of pulses from the same oscillator so that the infra-red transmitter emits intelligence in extremely short-duration bursts of energy.
