The user equipment receives, on a physical downlink control channel of the carrier, downlink control information using a multicast network identifier. The user equipment behaves as if at least two fields relating to indication of said at least two emergency notifications are set to one in a paging message for the user equipment, when the information satisfies a condition.

Details of Medium Access Control (MAC) Control Element (CE) and Downlink Control Information (DCI) based methods for indicating the timing and/or frequency adjustment commands either separately or jointly in the presence of delay and/or Doppler variations in NTN are provided. A terminal, also known as a user equipment (UE), can use DCI or MAC signaling to update the timing and frequency adjustment in presence of delay and Doppler variations in NTN. Further, a configurable MAC-CE design is provided for indicating commands related to timing and/or frequency adjustment. Procedures are also provided to report, during a random access procedure, the timing and frequency adjustment applied in preamble transmission.

In some embodiments, a method of operation of a UE to perform cell quality derivation in a wireless communication network comprises obtaining parameters to perform cell quality derivation for a serving cell of the UE from a measurement object that contains frequency information that matches frequency information provided in a serving cell configuration of the serving cell. The method further comprises performing cell quality derivation for the serving cell based on the obtained parameters. In this manner, the UE is enabled to perform cell quality derivation using parameters from an appropriate measurement object.
