  • Patent number: 6151545
Abstract: A signal (S) has a value at every point in time. The values may change in time and may lie within or outside a predetermined basic value range (BVMIN, BVMAX). The signal (S) is processed so that control steps associated with the values of the signal (S) are carried out when certain values of the signal (S) occur outside the basic value range (BVMIN, BVMAX). It may then occur that the carrying out of the control steps may be triggered in an undesirable manner because of implausible values of the signal (S). Such an implausible signal behavior must be recognized rapidly and the undesirable effects of the implausible signal behavior must be decreased or totally prevented at an early moment. For this purpose a value of the signal (S) occurring with relative frequency is determined as a dominant value (DV) as well as a frequency value (FV), which indicates frequency of occurrence of values of the signal (S) situated in the vicinity of the dominant value (DV).

  • Patent number: 6116703
Abstract: A process for the braking of a vehicle on road surfaces with varying frictional values influences the respective braking forces on the wheels of at least one axle via a common braking value. The inventive process recognizes differences between these frictional values, and the common braking value is adjusted so that the wheel located on the surface with the lower frictional value is locked at least intermittently, while the frictional value of the other wheel can be utilized advantageously. The common braking value is reduced at predetermined time intervals, so that the wheel located on the surface with the lower frictional value can start up again from the locked state when an increase in frictional value occurs. Depending on the reaction of the wheel located on the surface with the lower frictional value, it is then possible to decide whether further locking of this wheel is acceptable, or must be terminated because of anticipated damage to the tire, or reduction of travel stability.

  • Patent number: 5436836
Abstract: An electronic regulating system for regulating the supply of pressure medium to each brake cylinder of a vehicle having a plurality of wheels thereby preventing spinning of the wheels upon starting and locking of the wheels upon braking, comprises wheel speed sensors which detect the rotation of the wheels and which produce signals indicative of the individual rotational speeds of the wheels, and an electronic control unit which monitors the individual rotational speeds of the wheels and which controls the supply of the pressure medium to the brake cylinders based on the individual rotational speeds. The electronic control unit includes a speed signal processor which receives the signals produced by the wheel speed sensors and which determines the individual rotational speeds of the wheels and a vehicle reference speed therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5253931
Abstract: An automatic control logic for an anti-lock protected vehicle braking plants is provided for all-terrain operation. In this case, the standard automatic control logic for road operation is switched, by the driver with an all-terrain switch (13) to a special automatic control logic for all-terrain operation. The special automatic control logic generates time periods, during which a short-term blocking of the automatically controlled wheels (12) is intentionally permitted. The locking time periods have a time duration of about 240 ms. The braking distance of the vehicle in cross-country terrain is shortened while a sufficient cornering force remains based on the all-terrain automatic control logic.

  • Patent number: 5136511
Abstract: A safety circuit (12) for the surveillance of the proper functioning of an electronic wheel lockup-protected motor vehicle brake system includes automatic control circuits (10, 38), automatically controlled magnet valves (4, 46), and pick-up transducers (3, 47) at the motor vehicle wheels (2, 48) to be monitored. An error message and/or a partial shut-off of a defective pair of circuits, relating to wheel lockup protection circuits relating to diagonally disposed wheels, occurs in this safety circuit when an upward jump or a downward jump is recognized in the measured velocity of the one wheel and, simultaneously, the speed of the diagonally, oppositely disposed wheel or of any other wheel is measured to be above a limiting value. It is thereby avoided that an undesired error message occurs already when a jump in velocity is recognized, for instance in case of a standing vehicle, in case of a starting of the motor, or in case of a beginning of rolling of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4740041
Abstract: An anti-locking braking control system in which each one of at least two wheels of an axle provides a speed signal for use by a respective control channel of an electronic control unit having "modified individual wheel control" logic. A pair of control valves are connected in series to regulate the respective wheel brake pressure to obtain a "select-low wheel control" mode, the "individual wheel control" logic of the control channels assuring that the series-connected control valves are operated synchronously when reapplication of braking pressure is called for by a respective control channel.

  • Patent number: 4733920
Abstract: An antilocking system is being proposed which does not generate unplanned control signals when axle oscillations occur. To this purpose, a threshold value stage 6 for the wheel deceleration signals (-b) has an increased threshold value. After separation of the wheel velocity V.sub.R from the vehicle reference velocity V.sub.ref, this value is again decreased in stages so that a normal controlled braking process is not affected.
