  • Publication number: 20240092178
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling operation of a vehicle system are provided. This vehicle system can be at least partially powered by electric current conducted to a collector device of the vehicle system from a conductive pathway extending along a route traveled by the vehicle system. A voltage level of the conductive pathway may be monitored, and a conduction impaired location of the conductive pathway may be identified based at least in part on the voltage level of the conductive pathway that is monitored. The collector device or a removal device may be controlled to remove a contaminant from the conductive pathway at the conduction impaired location, the vehicle system may be controlled to compensate for the conduction impaired location, and/or an off-board facility and/or another vehicle system may be notified of the conduction impaired location responsive to identifying the conduction impaired location.

  • Publication number: 20240092179
Abstract: A method including detecting that a vehicle that may be propelled by an electric drive system having one or more motors disconnects or begins disconnecting from an off-board source of power while the one or more motors are being powered by the off-board source of power. The method may include supplanting a decreasing amount of a first electric energy supplied by the off-board source of power to the electric drive system with an amount of a second electric energy supplied by an onboard source of power to the electric drive system responsive to the detection of the disconnect from the off-board source of power.

  • Patent number: 9645988
Abstract: The methods proposed here deconstructs training sentences into a stream of features that represent both the sentences and tokens used by the text, their sequence and other ancillary features extracted using natural language processing. Then, we use a conditional random field where we represent the concept we are looking for as state A and the background (everything not concept A) as a state B. The model created by this training phase is then used to locate the concept as a sequence of sentences within a document. This has distinct advantages in accuracy and speed over methods that individually classify each sentence and then use a secondary method to group the classified sentences into passages. Furthermore while previous methods were based on searching for the occurrence of tokens only, the use of a wider set of features enables this method to locate relevant passages even though a different terminology is in use.

  • Publication number: 20050273545
Abstract: Caches are associated with processors, such multiple caches may be associated with multiple processors. This association may be different for different main memory address ranges. The techniques of the invention are flexible, as a system designer can choose how the caches are associated with processors and main memory banks, and the association between caches, processors, and main memory banks may be changed while the multiprocessor system is operating. Cache coherence may or may not be maintained. An effective address in an illustrative embodiment comprises an interest group and an associated address. The interest group is an index into a cache vector table and an entry into the cache vector table and the associated address is used to select one of the caches. This selection can be pseudo-random. Alternatively, in some applications, the cache vector table may be eliminated, with the interest group directly encoding the subset of caches to use.

  • Publication number: 20050254492
Abstract: There is provided a method for routing packets on a linear array of N processors connected in a nearest neighbor configuration. The method includes the step of, for each end processor of the array, connecting unused outputs to corresponding unused inputs. For each axis required to directly route a packet from a source to a destination processor, the following steps are performed. It is determined whether a result of directly sending a packet from an initial processor to a target processor is less than or greater than N/2 moves, respectively. The initial processor is the source processor in the first axis, and the target processor is the destination processor in the last axis. The packet is directly sent from the initial processor to the target processor, when the result is less than N/2 moves. The packet is indirectly sent so as to wrap around each end processor, when the result is greater than N/2 moves.

  • Patent number: 4609265
Abstract: An actuating device for automatically controlling the position of a movably mounted vehicle mirror comprises a motor controlled by switches for selectively actuating the motor in response to angular displacement of a trailer with respect to the vehicle. The switches are actuated in response to movement of the trailer and responsively close a circuit connecting a power source to the motor. Preferably, the switching means can include means for disconnecting the power source after a predetermined rotation of the motor in order to avoid excess energy use. Preferably, the disconnecting means comprises a plurality of switches arranged to contact lobes of a rotating cam at predetermined rotational positions of the cam. The cam can be concentrically secured to the rotor shaft or can be connected to the rotor shaft by a lever mechanism in order to form a crank which translates the rotor movement to linear displacement on a mirror positioning member.
