  • Patent number: 5084908
Abstract: A system for obtaining a tomographic image of an object having a plurality of candidate object image locations is provided. The system includes a processor containing object density information as well as a source of radiation energy for irradiating the object wherein the source of radiation is under the control of the processor. A radiograph of the object is provided and applied to a digitizer for indicating a selected object image location on the radiograph and transmitting the selected location to the processor. The processor then controls the source of radiation to adjust the level of radiation in accordance with the transmitted location and the stored object density information. The processor also controls a translator to adjust the relative object to equipment position in accordance with the transmitted location signal. The source of radiation energy can be moved through pluridimensional patterns.

  • Patent number: 4601290
Abstract: A surgical instrument and method for cutting and removing body tissue from a body area having a restricted space is provided. The cutter comprises an external cutting tube sized for insertion into the restricted space. The external tube has an opening therein with cutting edges thereon. An internal tube having an internal opening therein with cutting edges thereon is positioned within the external tube. The openings in the external and internal tubes are relatively oscillatingly movable to open to receive body tissue therethrough and to close to cut the body tissue. A vacuum is provided to draw the cut body tissue into and through the internal tube and out of the instrument.

  • Patent number: 4387000
Abstract: A pair of laminating rolls are respectively connected to a first and a second actuating arm themselves pivotally mounted to a slotted actuating link. The link is itself pivotally mounted to a single actuator. The link is arranged such that opening and closing forces are simultaneously applied to the arms to open and close the laminating rolls.

  • Patent number: 4377434
Abstract: A conveyance arrangement for conveying planar circuit boards is characterized by a roller drive in which the individual rollers have an angled driving surface formed thereon. The angularity of the driving surface is selected such that when the surface engages the edge thickness of a circuit board the board, if otherwise unrestrained, is displaced at a predetermined rectilinear velocity. However, if the board is restrained, the driving surface slips with respect to the edge of the board.

  • Patent number: 4363455
Abstract: A tensioning device for the take-up roll in an automatic laminating apparatus is characterized by a clutch member attached to the roll, the clutch member having a clutch material thereon biased into an abutting interface with respect to a drive member. The drive member is rotated at a first predetermined angular velocity. The clutch material continuously slips along the interface with the drive member to impart a second, lesser, angular velocity.

  • Patent number: 4338152
Abstract: A gripping arrangement for removing laminated circuit boards from the lamination region of an automatic laminating apparatus includes a gripping element which grasps the board after a predetermined portion has emerged from the apparatus. A carriage is simultaneously actuated to impose a displacement force on the laminate to assist in withdrawing it from the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4033683
Abstract: In an apparatus for viewing an enlarged image there are provided means adapted to project an image onto a reflective surface which in turn projects the image onto a moving screen. The angle of projection of the image onto the screen is maintained less than 10.degree. from normal to avoid distortion. The moving screen comprises a flexible laminate having at least a lenticular like surface and a highly reflective surface which is rotated at high speeds causing the screen to assume a very flat plane of rotation without vibration.
