    Abstract: Disclosed herein are representative embodiments of methods and apparatus for managing and allocating hardware resources during RTL synthesis. For example, in one exemplary method disclosed herein, an RTL description of a circuit to be implemented in a target architecture is received. The target architecture of this embodiment comprises a fixed number of hardware resources in a class of hardware resources. One or more operator instances are determined from the RTL description received, where at least some of the operator instances are implementable by the hardware resources in the class of hardware resources. In this embodiment, and prior to initially synthesizing the RTL description into a gate-level netlist, assignment information indicative of how the operator instances are to be implemented using the hardware resources in the class of hardware resources is automatically determined. A graphical user interface is also provided that allows a user to view and modify the assignment information.

    Abstract: A broad-spectrum harmonic filter is developed. This filter is to be connected in series ahead of the load which generates harmonics. This filter basically consists of 3 fixed elements, i.e. a series reactor and a shunt reactor in series with a capacitor. It can function to completely filter out 5th harmonic current in 3 phase systems (or 3rd harmonic current in single phase systems) and to reduce other harmonic components by high percentages say, typically close to 70%. Thus the portions of various harmonics flowing toward the electrical power source can be held within acceptable limits.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for performing speculative directory cache tag updates for read accesses to memory is herein disclosed. A control unit for performing tag updates is coupled between the memory controller and the memory bank in a multiprocessor system that employs a directory-based coherency protocol. The control unit transmits data read from the memory bank to the memory controller while calculating the updated tag that it then writes back to the memory bank. In this manner, the memory bank busy time and memory bus traffic are reduced thereby improving the overall performance of a memory access.

    Abstract: A memory system includes a main memory controller supplying data in response to transactions received by the main memory controller. A plurality of modules each include a cache memory for storing data supplied by the main memory controller. The modules request data from the main memory controller by sending module generated transactions to the main memory controller. A cache tag array includes a cache tag corresponding to each data line stored in memory, there being a one-to-one correspondence between the cache tags and the data lines. The data lines together with their associated cache tags are combined and arranged in a plurality of sequential data chunks, the cache tags included in an initial portion of the data chunks (i.e, a first sequence of bits) followed by inclusion of the data lines in a subsequent portion of the data chunks (i.e., the usable bit positions following inclusion of all of the cache tag bits.) Each of the chunks may further include appropriate ECC bits.

    Abstract: An extracting assembly is used to extract a spare tire from a wheel well disposed below a load platform of a motor vehicle. The extracting assembly includes a base with a pivoting member extending out therefrom. A tire platform pivots from the pivoting member. The spare tire rests on the tire platform. When a handle which is secured to the tire platform is pulled, the tire platform pivots up and out of the wheel well. The spare tire which rests on the tire platform is pulled out of the wheel well also. The pivoting member provides mechanical advantage and supports the back half of the tire platform as it rests on the load platform while the spare tire is being removed therefrom.
