  • Patent number: 4813401
Abstract: A surgical retractor for adjustable mounting on a supported holder includes an elongated stem of cylindrical cross-sectional configuration and blade means attached to one end of the stem, the stem being optionally provided with a plurality of spaced circumferential first means for selective engagement by adjustable complemental second means for restraining longitudinal movement of the stem in one direction, and optionally including an inner section hingedly connected to an outer section, providing a handle for pulling or rotating the retractor.A holder for a surgical retractor and frame support for the holder assume a nonrotating relation where the frame support has a section of substantially cylindrical cross-sectional configuration and has a longitudinally extending indentation, a portion of the frame support is encompassed by a section of the holder, and the holder section has protruding means for engaging the indentation of the frame support section.

  • Patent number: 4786022
Abstract: An attaching device is provided for securing a first support element in a selected position relative to an angularly disposed second support element. The device includes a base member having a first section disposed in face to face relation with respect to a first surface of the first support element and a second section extending angularly from the first section and engaging a second surface of the first support element. An edge portion of the base member second section is offset and forms a lip which engages a third surface of the first support element. The first and third surfaces are in generally opposed relation. Projecting from one side of the base member first section is an adjustably mounted first cam member which is in spaced relation to the base member second section. When in one position of adjustment, the first cam member coacts with the base member second section and wedges therebetween a selected segment of the first support element.

  • Patent number: 4752983
Abstract: A device is provided which is adapted for use in surface cleaning a soiled portion of a surgical instrument. The device includes a hollow casing having an elongated slot formed in an exterior surface of the casing. The slot permits the soiled portion of the surgical instrument to be inserted into the casing interior and be moved longitudinally of the slot. A friction medium is disposed within the hollow casing and has a segment thereof aligned with the slot. The aligned segment is adapted to exert frictional force on the inserted surgical instrument portion and effect surface cleaning thereof when the instrument is moved longitudinally of the slot. The device also includes an elongated directing element which is adapted to selectively assume a first or second mode. When in the first mode, the element is exposed and aligned with the slot and is engaged by the inserted instrument portion.

  • Patent number: 4704760
Abstract: A device is provided which is adapted for use in manually cleaning a soiled segment of a surgical blade. The device includes a hollow casing having a base portion and upwardly extending wall portions that form an elongated slot in an exterior surface of the casing. The slot is arranged so that the soiled segment of a surgical blade may be inserted through the slot into the casing and may be moved longitudinally of the slot. A compressible frictional media is disposed within the hollow casing and is adapted to exert compressive frictional force on the inserted surgical blade segment to effect cleaning thereof when the blade is moved longitudinally of the slot.

  • Patent number: 4087878
Abstract: A device is provided which is adapted for use in manually cleaning a segment of a surgical tool or instrument. The device includes a hollow casing having an elongated slot formed in a portion of the exterior surface thereof. The slot is adapted to have a segment of the tool inserted therethrough and then moved longitudinally of the slot. Disposed within the casing is a setose member having the setae thereof disposed adjacent to and aligned with said casing slot. The setae are resilient and frictionally engage the inserted tool segment when the latter is moved longitudinally of the slot.
