  • Patent number: 4733356
Abstract: A control device of a component vehicle route guidance system, the system comprising an on-board section having a navigation computer, and a vehicle-installed display for indicating the driver information data of the system. The control device is constructed as a portable hand-operated unit including a route computer, operating means and its own display, allowing the preselection of the route functions to be performed outside the vehicle. The device interfaces with the guidance system by plugging it into the on-board section in the vehicle. Various functions are enabled depending on which position the control device occupies in the on-board section.

  • Patent number: 4722246
Abstract: A planet-wheel power divider operates with a planet carrier and other transmission members in the form of three central wheels, with an input shaft connected to one central wheel, with an output shaft drivingly connected to one central wheel, with an output shaft drivingly connected to one of the other three transmission members and arranged centrally relative to the main axis. A second coaxial output shaft in the form of a hollow shaft is used to drive a parallel auxiliary drive shaft and can be coupled alternately to two of the three transmission members by shiftable clutches. A main planet meshes with an auxiliary planet and an outer central wheel, used for the constant connection to the input shaft, and an inner central wheel meshes with the main planet and a further inner central wheel meshes with the auxiliary planet.

  • Patent number: 4629042
Abstract: A drive arrangement is provided for a motor vehicle in which a hydrodynamic torque converter is installed in the transmission between an engine and a handshift gear box. The hydrodynamic torque converter is equipped with a stop clutch which is responsive to the rotational velocity of the torque converter. The stop clutch engages when the engine and the torque converter are stopped. After the engine is started, the stop clutch automatically unlocks the component parts of the torque converter, thereby allowing relative rotational movement of the engine crankshaft and the vehicle gearshaft. This arrangement provides a parking brake effect when the gearbox is shifted into a gear.

  • Patent number: 4464955
Abstract: A control arrangement for an automatic change-speed transmission which is series-connected with an output of a driving engine. A gearshift control slide valve, a manually operable range selection control slide valve, and a gear-holding control slide valve operating in dependence upon a modulating control pressure related to the torque of the driving engine are connected in such a manner that the gearshift control slide valve is held in a position for a higher gear if the driving engine is in an idling position and the range selection control slide valve is in a position for a forward gear range. A downshift control member, operable by a control linkage of a power control of the driving engine affects the modulating pressure to be made effective at the gear-holding control slide valve in such a manner that, upon operating the control linkage from an idling position, the gear-holding control slide valve and gearshift control slide valve are brought into their positions for the lowest gear.

  • Patent number: 4395925
Abstract: A planetary gear change-speed transmission for vehicles, in which a torque transmission train is operable to be drivingly connected by way of an input transmission with an input shaft, and by way of a main transmission, with an output shaft; the input transmission is operable to be shifted into direct speed ratio by a clutch and into a reduced speed ratio by braking a rotatable member by means of a brake; the main transmission includes a planetary gear reversing transmission which, by braking a rotatable member thereof, causes two other rotatable members to rotate in mutually opposite directions of rotation, whereby one of these two rotatable members is drivingly connected with the output shaft and the other of these two rotatable members is adapted to be drivingly connected, by way of a reverse speed clutch, with the torque transmission train; the rotatable member of the input transmission which can be braked, is operable to be drivingly connected with one of the two rotatable members of the reversing transm

  • Patent number: 4391165
Abstract: A kick-down circuit for automatic change-speed transmissions, with a kick-down control member transmitting a kick-down control signal when an accelerator pedal is "floored" and with at least one gearshift valve for the operating pressure of a shift-actuating member participating in a shifting-over between a higher gear and a lower gear. The gearshift valve is actuatable by a control pressure dependent upon a driving speed along the lines of an "upshifting" and by a control pressure dependent upon a position of the gas pedal along of the lines of a "downshifting." Upon the occurrence of the kick-down control signal, under elevation of the control pressure dependent upon the position of the accelerator pedal, the gearshift valve may be brought into a position for the lower gear. The elevation of the control pressure acting along the lines of the "downshifting" triggered by the kick-down control signal is temporally limited independently of a position of the accelerator pedal.

  • Patent number: 4369676
Abstract: A kick-down circuit for an automatic change-speed transmission with a kick-down control member transmitting a kick-down control signal when an accelerator or gas pedal is floored and with at least one gearshift control element operating in dependence upon a transmission output speed and a position of the gas pedal for an auxiliary operating force of a shift actuating member participating in a shifting between a higher gear and a lower gear. The gearshift control element, upon an occurrence of the kick-down control signal, may be brought into its position for the lower gear under the effect of an auxiliary control force dependent upon a position of the gas pedal. The kick-down control signal is temporally limited independently of the position of the gas pedal.

  • Patent number: 4233861
Abstract: A change-speed transmission which includes an input shaft and an output shaft which are drivingly connected by a forward and rearward planetary gear system. The forward planetary gear system includes two planetary gears one of which meshes merely with a sun gear with the other planetary gear meshing with a further sun gear as well as with a ring gear. The planetary gears are carried by a double carrier which is drivingly connected with one transmission member of the rearward planetary gear system with the ring gear being drivingly connected with another member of the rearward planetary gear system by way of respective torque transmitting coupling trains. A change-speed clutch for producing a direct transmission of the rearward planetary gear system is operatively connected with the double carrier which is also drivable through a gear shifting clutch by way of the input shaft.
