    Abstract: The present invention is based on the discovery of polyclonal IgG's ability to promote Schwann cell maturation, differentiation, and myelin production. Methods for treating non-idiopathic, demyelinating peripheral neuropathies in mammals, where the neuropathy is not immune-mediated or infection-mediated, through the administration of polyclonal IgG are provided. Types of demyelinating peripheral neuropathies treatable with the present invention include peripheral nerve trauma and toxin-induced peripheral neuropathies. Alternatively, a composition of polyclonal IgGs can be applied directly to a peripheral nerve cell to induce maturation, differentiation into a myelinating state, and myelin expression or promote cell survival.

    Abstract: A process is proposed for the chemical oxidative treatment of a medium, e.g. sewage sludge, containing organic constituents, which comprises two process steps. In the first process step, the medium is heated to a first preset low temperature range and kept in this temperature range for a preset treatment duration. In a second process step, the sludge is then heated to a second preset low temperature range, pressurized in a preset low pressure range and kept in this temperature and pressure range for a preset treatment duration. In the course of this, an oxygen-containing gas, e.g. air or oxygen-enriched air or technical grade oxygen is introduced into the medium at least intermittently. The low temperatures and pressures provided in the two process steps are below or at most in the lower third of the temperature and pressure ranges of 150.degree.-370.degree. C. and 10-220 bar conventional in the wet-oxidation processes.

The clutch includes a primary wheel, a secondary wheel, a housing which comprises two essentially axially perpendicular end walls as well as a peripheral wall which is essentially concentric to the axis of the clutch, a scooping bowl fastened to the primary wheel, forming a scooping space and revolving jointly with the primary wheel (rotor), outlet bores discharging from the working space into the scooping space, and a scooping pipe dipping into the scooping space. At least one antechamber has an inlet port for receiving leakage water entrained and thrown off by the outside surface of the rotor. A line is used for transfer of operating fluid from the antechamber to the scooping space.
