Abstract: This invention provides a process for the production of methanol which comprises steps of(a) reacting hydrocarbon with steam to generate synthesis gas composed of hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide as main components,(b) reacting the synthesis gas on a methanol synthesis catalyst to synthesize crude methanol, and(c) feeding the resultant crude methanol directly to a distillation column and distilling the crude methanol to separate prified methanol and an effluent water containing all or part of low boiling organic compounds, high boiling organic compounds and organic acids,the above step (c) being a step for the distillation and separation carried out without adding any alkali compound to neutralize the organic acids in the crude methanol obtained in the above step (b),the process including a step of bringing the effluent water resulting from the above step (c) into contact with gaseous hydrocarbon to humidify the hydrocarbon,the humidified hydrocarbon being used as a material for hydrocarbon and st

Abstract: A multi-tube type heat transfer apparatus includes a plurality of heat transfer tubes disposed in parallel to each other within a shell wall. A plurality of holes having a larger diameter than the outer diameter of the heat transfer tubes are provided in each of a plurality of baffle plates disposed at intervals within the shell wall. The heat transfer tubes extend through the respective holes. A flow passageway of fluid on the side of the shell is composed of annular spaces formed between the outer circumference of the heat transfer tubes and the inner circumferences of the holes in the baffle plates.
Abstract: In an antiskid control device comprising detectors for measuring circumferential velocities of a plurality of wheels an actuator for operating a braking oil pressure for each of the wheels and an electric circuit for calculating friction coefficients on the road surfaces, to which the wheels are in contact, calculating aimed wheel circumferential velocities from the friction coefficients on the road surfaces and operating the actuator such that each of the aimed wheel circumferential velocities and each of the measured wheel circumferential velocities coincide with each other, the electrical circuit operates the actuator by setting individual aimed wheel circumferential velocities for the plurality of wheels from a vehicle deceleration calculated from an average value for the friction coefficients on the road surfaces with which a plurality of wheels are in contact, respectively, and the slip ratio for each of the plurality of wheels.
Abstract: Benzamide derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or a methoxy group; R.sub.2 is a straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl group having 2 to 8 carbon atoms, a substituted phenyl group, or group --NHR.sub.4, R.sub.4 being a hydrogen atom, a straight-chain or branched-chain or cyclic alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or a phenyl group that may have a substituent on the nucleus; R.sub.3 is a hydrogen atom or one or two alkyl groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and n is 0 or 1, a process for preparing these derivatives, and pharmaceutical compositions containing the same are provided.The compounds of the above formula have the action to reduce the blood glucose level and, therefore, are useful as medicines.
