  • Patent number: 5182677
Abstract: Video program information is edited from plural prerecorded source media onto an edited record medium. Each source medium includes video program information of a common scene which may be recorded at a location on the medium relative to a beginning location thereof that differs from the location relative to the beginning location on another source medium on which the same common scene is recorded. Each source medium includes address data representing discrete positions thereon and when the program information of the common scene is played back concurrently from the plural source media, the address data associated with the respective media also are played back. The played program information is monitored, and when a scene location in the common scene is played back substantially simultaneously from plural source media, the address data from each source medium representing the actual position at which the scene location is recorded on that source medium is stored as synchronized address data.

  • Patent number: 5168394
Abstract: In a time information generator for generating time information in an arbitrary frame of video information varying with changes in time on the basis of time information delivered at a predetermined time interval from a video information forming device for forming video information, there is employed a scheme to discriminate between operational modes of the video information forming device to form, by an interpolative operation, time information in an arbitrary frame of video information from time information delivered from the video information forming device every n (n=2, 3, 4, . . .) frames of video information on the basis of the result indicative of the discriminated operational mode.

  • Patent number: 5103348
Abstract: An editing apparatus controls a plurality of video tape recorders so that a slow motion picture, a quick motion picture or a combination of the slow motion picture and the quick motion picture reproduced by the video tape recorder can be edited on a video tape. The editing apparatus includes an input keyboard to input data of a desired tape speed at first and second tape positions, a calculating circuit for calculating a tape speed at any position between said first and second positions on the basis of the input data, and a control circuit for controlling a tape speed of said video tape recorders in response to an output signal of said calculating circuit.

  • Patent number: 5043828
Abstract: An editing system measures the servo-lock period in every pre-view operation. Pre-roll time is updated based on the measured servo-lock period. The magnitude of rewinding of the tape is thus adjusted on the basis of the updated pre-roll time. By up-dating the pre-roll time in accordance with servo-lock period measured in actual operation, the pre-roll time can be set at a minimum value to be determined according to the servo-lock period. Therefore, the tape does not over shoot the optimum queuing position and the period preceding the cut-in point during pre-view operation can be kept short.

  • Patent number: 4989101
Abstract: A tape synchronizing apparatus for a tape reproducer using a tape with information signals and time code signals recorded thereon and serving to reproduce such signals from the tape. When attaining synchronism with a reference time code before return of a rewound tape to a target in-point, there is calculated, at the instant of the tape speed rise to a predetermined constant speed, the difference between the respective remaining times of both the read and reference time codes until the target in-point, and the preset value of the reference time code at the tape rewind instant is further offset by the difference from the time period corresponding to the tape rewind, so that the difference is reduced substantially to zero at the next tape speed rise, thereby shortening the time required for synchronization (phase modification).
