    Abstract: Provided is a dispersant for carbon fibers which allows uniform dispersion of relatively long carbon fibers, e.g., carbon fibers with a length of 12.5 mm or more, particularly 10.0-100.0 mm, more particularly 12.5-50.0 mm in an aqueous medium. A dispersant for carbon fibers used by combining: (A) a random copolymer of phenylglycidyl ether and ethylene oxide, or a random copolymer of phenylglycidyl ether, ethylene oxide and propylene oxide; and (B) a polyether-based polyurethane resin based on a bifunctional polyol and hexamethylene diisocyanate, the bifunctional polyol being polyethylene glycol and/or an ethylene oxide-propylene oxide random copolymer.

    Abstract: It is disclosed a process for developing a lithographic printing material having physical development nuclei between an aluminum support and a silver halide emulsion layer containing 95 mole % or more of silver chloride based on the total amount of the silver halide, when development of the lithographic printing material is carried out by using a developing solution having a pH of 13.0 at a development temperature of 25° C. and a development time of 40 seconds, a decreased amount of aluminum oxide in the aluminum support is 0.8 g or more per 1 m2 of the support, the improvement wherein the process for developing a lithographic printing plate comprises subjecting to development so as to control the decreased amount of the aluminum oxide being 0.6 g or less per 1 m2 by adjusting at least one of the pH of the developing solution, the development temperature and the developing time.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a printing method using a silver salt lithographic printing plate obtained by imagewise exposing a silver salt lithographic printing plate precursor comprising a support and, provided thereon, at least a silver halide emulsion layer and a physical development nuclei layer and then subjecting the exposed printing plate precursor to silver complex diffusion transfer development and using a dampening composition containing a nonionic surface-active agent represented by the following formula ?I!: ##STR1## wherein R represents an alkyl group of 1-9 carbon atoms, and n.sub.1 and n.sub.2 are mol numbers necessary for the polymer having an average molecular weight of 250 or more, and n.sub.1 /n.sub.2 is 0.5-2, and a polymer represented by the following formula ?II!: ##STR2## wherein m is a number which provides a number-average molecular weight of 2000-50000 for the polymer.
