  • Patent number: 8031869
Abstract: A digital work (102) and copyright management information (103) for the digital work are recorded on an information recording medium (101) by altering a shape, a position or a pattern (104, 105) of recording mark edges of the digital work. Alternatively, a decryption key for the right management information is recorded on an information recording medium on which the copyright management information has been recorded encrypted, by altering the recording mark edges of the copyright management information. Alternatively, a check code for the copyright management information is recorded on the information recording medium by altering the recording mark edges. The check code is checked when the copyright management information is read, thus detecting illegal use of the copyright management information.

  • Publication number: 20110181697
Abstract: The present invention has an objective of providing an optical disk having a high resolution picture and a system for reproducing data on the optical disk, which are compatible with a conventional system for reproducing an ordinary resolution picture. A high resolution signal is divided into a main signal and a sub signal by picture division means and MPEG-encoded. The main signal and the sub signal are divided into frames each having 1 GOP or more. The resultant first interleave block 54 and second interleave block 55 are recorded alternately on an optical disk. A high resolution reproduction apparatus reproduced both the first and second interleave blocks, so that a high resolution picture is obtained. A non-high resolution reproduction apparatus reproduces only the first or second interleave block, so that an ordinary resolution picture.

  • Patent number: 7979915
Abstract: A recording device performs recording on a recording medium such as a DVD, and playback compatibility of the recording medium is increased. In circumstances such as when a standard is established after the manufacture of a playback apparatus, there are playback devices that physically cannot read information for decrypting encrypted data from a predetermined area of the recording medium due to the specifications of the playback apparatus, and therefore the playback apparatus cannot use the recording medium. In order for the recording medium to be able to be used in such a playback apparatus, the recording device reads data recorded in the predetermined area of the recording medium, and records the read data in another area that is readable by the playback apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7975206
Abstract: An ECC block is constituted by RS(248,216,33). Of a data length of 216 bytes (symbols), only 16 bytes are allocated to BCA data and the remaining 200 bytes are used for fixed data having a predetermined value. Using the fixed data of 200 bytes and the BCA data of 16 bytes, parities of 32 bytes (symbols) are calculated. Only the BCA data of 16 bytes and the parities of the former 16 bytes of the 32-byte parities, that is, a total of 32 bytes only, are recorded in a burst cutting area of an optical disc. In decoding, error correction processing is carried out by using the fixed data of 200 bytes. The unrecorded parities of 16 bytes are processed as having been erased. Thus, the error correction capability in a burst cutting area of an optical disc can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20110093706
Abstract: A key distribution system distributes key data for using content to a second encryption device that has been legitimately outsourced processing by a first encryption device. The first encryption device acquires permission information indicating that the first encryption device has permission to use the content, generates certification information by making an irreversible alteration the to permission information, and transmits the permission information and the certification information to the second encryption device. The second encryption device receives the permission information and the certification information, sends them to a key distribution device, and acquires the key data from the key distribution device. The key distribution device receives the permission information and the certification information, judges whether or not the certification information was generated by the by the first encryption device, and if judging in the affirmative, transmits the key data to the second encryption device.

  • Patent number: 7861142
Abstract: Four ECC blocks are recorded in a burst cutting area of an optical disc. Each ECC block is constituted by a BCA content code of 1 byte, content data length of 1 byte, and content data of 14 bytes. Of the BCA content data, the leading 6 bits are used for application ID and the remaining 2 bits are used for block number. Disc ID is stored in the content data. Since the four ECC blocks exist, the optical disc can be managed individually by four applications at the maximum. Thus it becomes possible to manage the same optical disc by a plurality of applications.

  • Patent number: 7831831
Abstract: An authentication communication system is capable of storing information relating to revoked devices in less area than is conventionally required. A computer unit stores in advance revocation information that indicates at least one revoked apparatus, and when authenticating a driver unit judges, based on the revocation information, whether or not the driver unit is revoked. The computer unit prohibits communication with the driver unit when the driver unit is judged to be revoked, and communicates with the driver unit when the driver unit is judged not to be revoked.

  • Publication number: 20100034513
Abstract: The present invention provides an information embedding apparatus that is capable of preventing playback stop of a content that has been shot without intention of misuse. The information embedding apparatus comprises: an acquisition unit operable to acquire the content that is played back along the playback time-line; a watermark generating unit operable to generate the watermarks such that values held by the watermarks vary according to a first rule, the first rule showing that the values should vary according to a sequential order on the playback time-line; and an embedding unit operable to embed two or more of the watermarks into the content while keeping the sequential order.

  • Patent number: 7657739
Abstract: A device that ensures that one device acquires and updates a list used for judging whether the other device in communication is valid or invalid, in a device authentication system. When a list H stored in a personal computer 200 is old, the personal computer 200 acquires a latest version of the list H and a latest version of a list D from outside an internal network, updates the list H stored therein to the latest version, and updates the list D stored therein to the latest version.

  • Patent number: 7647646
Abstract: In an information input/output system, a user device inputs and outputs information to and from external sources including a key management device. The system includes the key management device that securely outputs invalid-device information specifying an invalid device unit that has been made invalid for use, and the user device that includes an input/output unit and a host unit. Via the input/output unit, input and output of information is enabled between the host unit and the external sources. The host unit securely receives, via the input/output unit, the invalid-device information outputted by the key management device and judges whether or not the input/output unit is an invalid device unit by referring to the received invalid-device information. When judging, that the input/output unit is an invalid device, the host unit thereafter prohibits input and output via the input/output unit.

  • Patent number: 7620993
Abstract: Apparatuses are classified into a plurality of categories, and based on a media key and device key data held by apparatuses belonging to the respective categories, revocation data intended for revoking the device key held by a specific apparatus of the respective categories is generated for the respective categories, and recorded on a recording medium.
