    Abstract: Provided is a plasma arc welding method for continuously welding a welding target part of a welding workpiece while forming a keyhole weld on the welding target part of the welding workpiece using a plasma arc. A pulse current is used for a welding current, and the pulse frequency of the pulse current is controlled so as to be a frequency that is synchronized with a weld pool (P) during the welding. With this approach, vibration of the weld pool during keyhole welding can be controlled so as to synchronize with the pulse frequency of the pulse current. As a result, when the plasma arc keyhole welding is performed, a stable penetration bead having a desired height can be reliably obtained without hanging or irregularity.

    Abstract: The method of monitoring keyhole welding with a plasma arc includes the step of measuring output voltages when welding is performed with a constant current, and the step of finding peak frequencies and distributions of welding voltages by analyzing frequencies of the welding voltages which correlate to a molten weld pool (P) vibration among the output voltages measured. The method also includes the step of identifying the peak frequencies that correlate to the molten weld pool (P) vibration, and the step of comparing the identified peak frequencies with a frequency range and determining whether the welding is good or bad. Thus, whether or not good keyhole welding is carried out can be determined with excellent precision by simply comparing the peak frequency that correlates to the molten weld pool (P) vibration with the frequency range.

In the nitrogen oxide treatment section, reducing reactions are induced between nitrogen oxides and reductant gas components of the exhaust gas in the presence of a nitrogen oxide reduction catalyst.

A welding wire 6 is arranged facing on the groove formed by the contact between the first base material 1 and the second base material 2. The first base material 1 and the second material 2 are caused to fuse at an area of contact between them by an arc from the welding wire 6. A melt, which has been formed by the fusion at the area of contact and the like, is forced out to the back side of the groove to form a bead B4 in the form of a fillet weld on the back side of the groove.

When the electrode (12) is at a plus potential, arc electrons are generated from a laser irradiated point and discharged to the electrode (12). When a voltage applied between the electrode (12) and the base material (2) is alternating, the polarities of the electrode (12) and the base material (2) alternately change so that the foregoing phenomena alternately occur. When the base material (2) is at a minus potential, an arc discharge (4) takes place from a laser spot.
