  • Patent number: 4600241
Abstract: A cantilever type seating unit with a back that can be secured to a wall surface including a shell in the form of a contoured plate having hook members attached to a rear surface of the back and fastening members attached to an undersurface of a seat portion, and a support frame including a pair of L-shaped support arms and a seat plate unitarily connected to the L-shaped support arms and having fastening seats attached to its upper surface. After the support frame is bolted or otherwise connected to the wall surface, the shell can be firmly fastened to the support frame by first hitching the hook members to upper ends of the L-shaped support members and then bringing the fastening members into fastening engagement with the fastening seats. The seating unit is simple in construction, easy to assemble and light in weight.

  • Patent number: 4327820
Abstract: A disc brake having a pair of pistons composed of a Devitroceramics having a heat conductivity of about 1.times.10.sup.-3 cal/cm.sec..degree.C. to about 4.times.10.sup.-2 cal/cm.sec..degree.C., a bend strength of about 5 kg/mm.sup.2 to about 55 kg/mm.sup.2, a Vickers' hardness of about 400, and a density of smaller than about 4.0 g/cm.sup.3. A method of manufacturing the disc brake comprises incorporating into the disc brake a pair of pistons which are prepared by mixing the component materials of the Devitroceramics, melting them to a homogeneous molten state, molding the molten materials into a piston-shaped article, annealing the article for crystallization and heating the article.

  • Patent number: 4179164
Abstract: An inertia-controlled valve unit includes a valve seat provided within a valve chamber and a ball disposed within the valve chamber to co-operate with the valve seat and rolling toward the valve seat to cut-off excessive braking pressure applied to rear wheel brake cylinders. The inertia-controlled valve unit comprises a solenoid winding attached to the valve housing, a plunger passing through the solenoid winding into the valve chamber and located behind the ball, the plunger being moved forwardly by energization of the solenoid winding to engage the ball against the valve seat, a normally open switch attached to a portion of a push-rod for connecting the solenoid winding to a source of electricity when closed, and a movable element slidable on the push-rod to be displaced toward the switch by inertia force acting thereon when the brake pedal is rapidly depressed, the movable element closing the switch when engaged with the switch.

  • Patent number: 4138905
Abstract: A device for operating a parking brake including a pivotable lever for stretching a brake cable and a one-way locking mechanism for the lever having a pawl and ratchet teeth. The pawl is actuated by the balance of a spring force and the reaction force of the cable stretched so that the pawl is driven into engagement with the ratchet teeth by the reaction of the cable against the spring force when the cable is stretched beyond a predetermined tensioned condition.

  • Patent number: 4043123
Abstract: A negative pressure generating system for an internal combustion engine powered vehicle, comprising a brake booster incorporated in the vehicle and adapted for an increase in braking power, an air cleaner for cleaning air to be supplied to the internal combustion engine, an air pump which receives air from said air cleaner and delivers the air to said internal combustion engine, and a valve disposed among said brake booster, said air cleaner and said air pump and operative in response to the booster pressure in said brake booster on receiving said pressure as an input signal, thereby interrupting air communication between said air pump and said air cleaner, with the result that the negative pressure arising on the suction side of said air pump is used as a negative pressure source for operating said brake booster.
