  • Patent number: 7848009
Abstract: An image display medium includes a pair of substrates, a liquid that is enclosed between the substrates, first colored particles, second colored particles and third colored particles. The first colored particles are colored a first color and move in response to an electric field that is formed between the substrates. The second colored particles are colored a second color and move in an opposite direction of the first colored particles. The third colored particles are colored a third color, are configured to have a particle diameter such that the third colored particles move through clearances between the first colored particles and the second colored particles in a state in which the first colored particles and the second colored particles have aggregated together, and move in response to an electric field that is formed between the substrates.

  • Patent number: 5497203
Abstract: A motion detection circuit within MUSE decoder for reproducing a high definition television picture signal from a MUSE signal obtains one-interframe differential signal and preferably one-interfield differential signal from an interframe interpolation signal. The differential signals are passed through a vertical filter to limit the vertical frequency and through a horizontal filter or filters to obtain a high and a low frequency component signal. The judgment circuit judges the reliability of the high and low component signals on the basis of the levels of peak values thereof, and the selector selects an appropriate signal in accordance with the judgment. Horizontal and vertical width extenders and absolute value output circuits may be provided to improve the performance.

  • Patent number: 5274444
Abstract: A video signal processor for reproducing a MUSE signal in the form of a Hi-vision signal. In transmitting a Hi-vision television signal, a signal obtained by thinning out the complete group of sampling points which are extracted from the original Hi-vision video signal in accordance with a predetermined rule is transmitted. A video signal processor in a TV set completes sampling points which are thinned out on the transmission side by interpolation. In a conventional video signal processor, since it is necessary to process a signal at a digital portion at a high speed, the circuit must be composed of elements which operate at a high speed. It is also necessary to use a low-pass filter having a sharp cutoff characteristic in the process of cutting off the high-frequency component of the output signal.

  • Patent number: 5237396
Abstract: A scan format conversion apparatus has a scanning conversion circuit which digitally converts an interlaced-scanning TV signal into noninterlaced-scanning RGB signals and synchronizing signals. A plurality of interpolation computing circuits respectively produce a plurality of interpolation signals from the signals outputted from the scanning conversion circuit by executing computing operations. A plurality of image memories respectively store the signals outputted from the interpolation computing circuits for one-frame period. A memory controller properly controls the writing and reading operation performed by the plural image memories. The apparatus generates a plurality of scan-line data by a certain amount more than those which are generated by the noninterlaced-scanning operation, and then selects scan-line data available for a display unit with uniform alignment from the increased scan-line data.
