  • Patent number: 6535717
Abstract: The present system comprises a transmitting apparatus for digital broadcast which includes an original signal generating section, delaying section, information amount reducing section, and transmitting section. A receiving and reproducing apparatus for digital broadcast includes a signal reception front stage unit for receiving a high quality signal and a low quality signal, mode determining section and reproducing section composed of a delaying section and selecting section for selectively reproducing the high quality signal and the low quality signal. By employing time diversity, the transmitting apparatus sends the low quality signal having a smaller bandwidth and the high quality signal so that the low quality signal has a preceding time lag relative to the high quality signal, and the receiving apparatus reproduces broadcasting programs. Utilizing the frequency band for broadcast effectively, many broadcasting programs can be increased, and the investment for providing a gap filler can be minimized.

  • Patent number: 6529011
Abstract: An inspection apparatus and inspection method for assuring a contact between measuring terminals and external electrodes of a discrete electronic component without damaging the external electrodes. The measuring terminals are pressed into contact with the external electrodes of the discrete electronic component. An electrical signal source applies an electrical signal between the measuring terminals to break insulation layers of the measuring terminals and the external electrodes. With the insulation layers cleaned, the contact resistance between the measuring terminals and the external electrodes is reduced, and a conduction therebetween is established. After the cleaning of the insulation layers, a measuring instrument permits a measurement signal to flow to the electronic component with the measuring terminals left pressed into contact with the external electrodes. The characteristics of the electronic component are inspected based on a signal flowing through the electronic component.

  • Patent number: 6456390
Abstract: The present invention provides an image processing device, an image processing method, and a recording medium that supply the intermediate code image data generated for each band to the hardware rendering mechanism at high speed and enhance the efficiency of a memory in use. In the image processing device, a host processing unit receives and interprets incoming PDL data, creates intermediate code image data for each band, and supplies it to an intermediate code image data holding block management unit. The intermediate code image data holding block management unit reserves intermediate code image data holding areas on the memory, and stores intermediate code image data holding blocks and management information in the areas with continuous addresses. The management information is rewritten into descriptors, which are supplied to a DMA controller, and the intermediate code image data is sequentially transferred to a rendering unit by the chained DMA transfer system.

  • Patent number: 4461028
Abstract: A system for identifying a seal stamp comprises a memory having stored therein two impression reference patterns, namely an original reference pattern and a latest reference pattern, for the seal stamp. An impression pattern read by a reader is collated with the latest reference pattern, and when the patterns are found to match, the read impression is verified and the latest reference pattern in the memory is updated with use of the read impression pattern. If the patterns are found not to match by the collation, the read impression pattern is collated by the original reference pattern. When the two patterns are found to match by this collation, the read impression is verified. The original reference pattern is updated when desired. The system is also useful for identifying other objects such as speech.
