    Abstract: Assuming an aperture diameter of an electron beam aperture formed in a shield cup as Vsc, an aperture diameter of an electron beam aperture formed in an inner electrode of a focusing electrode as V5, and a distance between the electron beam aperture formed in the shield cup and the inner electrode as L, the above-mentioned aperture diameter Vsc, the aperture diameter V5 and the distance L are determined to satisfy tan ?=(V5?Vsc)/2L?0.08. Due to such a constitution, it is possible to enhance the degree of vacuum in the inside of a cathode ray tube and, it is possible to prevent a getter for elevating the degree of vacuum in the inside of the cathode ray tube and for maintaining the elevated degree of the vacuum from being scattered to the electron gun side thus preventing the deterioration of the characteristics of the electron gun.

    Abstract: A cathode ray tube has a contact spring 30 which is fixed at one end to a shield cup 27 provided on an anode electrode 26 of an electron gun assembly and is pressed at the other end against an electrically conductive coating 3a applied to an inner wall of a funnel portion 3, so as to provide a reliable electrical connection between the anode electrode 26 and the electric conductive coating 3a and to hold the electron gun assembly coaxially in the neck portion 2. The contact spring 30 is made of an alloy material which is composed of 30-35 wt % nickel (Ni), 19-23 wt % chromium (Cr) and the balance of which is substantially iron (Fe), and which has a micro Vickers hardness of 250-400.

    Abstract: The present invention improves the stability among the qualities of the electron tube cathodes in which the barium scandate is dispersed and contained in the alkali earth metal oxide layer provided on the surface of the base metal, by making the shape and average particle size of the barium scandate similar to those of the carbonate used to form the alkali earth metal oxide, and it avoids the deterioration of the electron emission property for a long time, by setting the concentration of the barium scandate in the alkali earth metal oxide layer to zero at the position close to the surface of the base metal.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to an electron gun retaining a cathode and a plurality of electrodes with a pair of bead glasses and a method for manufacturing the same, wherein each of the bead glasses are provided with a convex portion at a position where a bead support for an electrode is buried on a side of the electrodes, each of bead bases of a beading apparatus on which the bead glasses are disposed is formed with a concave portion at a position corresponding to the convex portion of the bead glass, the bead glasses disposed on the bead bases are heated and softened, the bead supports for the cathode and the plurality of electrodes are buried and secured in the bead glasses, and the bead glasses each include convex portions on a side opposite to the electrodes.
