    Abstract: A license plate lamp for radiating light to a surface of a license plate attached to a rear end of a vehicle body includes: a lamp body disposed above the license plate; a light emitting diode disposed within the lamp body, the light emitting diode having an optical axis extending in a vertical direction for emitting light toward a license plate located under the light emitting diode; and a control lens provided between the light emitting diode and the license plate for controlling the light emitted by the light emitting diode so that the light is radiated toward a surface of the license plate. The control lens includes a first control portion for radiating the light emitted by the light emitting diode toward an upper end part of the surface of the license plate, and a second control portion located rearward of the first control portion for radiating the light emitted by the light emitting diode toward substantially a whole region of the surface of the license plate.

The lighting apparatus includes a license plate lamp which illuminates the license plate with visible light, and an infrared irradiation lamp which irradiates a region behind the vehicle with infrared light. The license plate lamp includes a first light emitting device which emits the visible light and is supported on a rear surface of a first support plate. The infrared irradiation lamp includes a second light emitting device which emits the infrared light and is supported on a lower surface of a second support plate. A lower end of the first support plate is coupled to a rear end of the second support plate. When seen from behind the vehicle, the license plate lamp is disposed directly above the infrared irradiation lamp.

    Abstract: A translucent member is arranged so as to cause light originating from an LED light source oriented toward the front of a lamp to enter the translucent member. Outgoing LED light that has entered the translucent member is reflected rearward by a front surface, and then the light is reflected forward by a rear surface, to thereby exit forward of the lamp from the translucent member. At that time, an area on the front surface located in the vicinity of an optical axis Ax is formed as a normal reflection section subjected to reflection surface treatment. The other area of the front surface is formed as an internal reflection section which causes the outgoing LED light to undergo internal reflection. A plurality of reflection elements are formed on the rear surface of the translucent member so as to cause the outgoing LED light reflected from the front surface to enter the internal reflection section at an incidence angle which is smaller than or equal to a critical angle.

An internal reflection portion that internally reflects light which is incident on the translucent member at a small angle with respect to an optical axis of the LED light source, in a direction which is substantially perpendicular to the optical axis, and a refraction portion that refracts light which is incident at a large angle with respect to the optical axis, in a direction which is substantially perpendicular to the optical axis, are formed on the surface of the translucent member. The LED emitted light can be caused to be incident on a reflective surface of the reflector in the form of substantially parallel beams which are directed in a direction that is substantially perpendicular to the optical axis.
