  • Patent number: 7137685
Abstract: A print head for a line printer in which errors between print head chips and another component are reduced and ink leakage is prevented, and in which heat generated in print head chips is efficiently dissipated without making the structure of the print head complex or increasing the size of the print head. A plurality of print head chips (11) are arranged along an ink path (20) and are disposed on both sides of the ink path in a zigzag pattern. Dummy chips (21) which do not eject ink are disposed at regions between the print head chips (11) arranged along the ink path (20). In addition, an ink-path member (23) is provided, at least a part of the ink-path member (23) which includes portions adhered to the print head chips (11) being composed of a material having a high thermal conductivity, so that the ink-path member (23) also serves as heat-dissipating means which dissipates heat generated in the print head chips (11).

  • Patent number: 7027935
Abstract: A sample dispensing apparatus is realized which can detect a dispensing abnormality occurred during the sample dispensing operation regardless of the type and the extent of the abnormality. A pressure sensor is connected to a dispensing flow passage system, including a sample probe and a dispensing syringe, and a plurality of output values of the pressure sensor during the sample dispensing operation are taken in. A multi-item analysis (based on the Mahalanobis distance) is carried out by using, as items, the plurality of taken-in output values of the pressure sensor. Whether the dispensing is normally performed or not is determined by comparing an analysis result with a threshold. A highly reliable determination result is obtained in spite of variations of sensitivity of the pressure sensor.

  • Patent number: 6875401
Abstract: A sample, a reagent, etc. in a reaction container 132 is agitated with an ultrasonic wave generated from a piezoelectric transducer (141, 142). A power supply unit (144) applies, to the piezoelectric transducer, a voltage having been subjected to frequency modulation at frequencies over an optional frequency range. An analyzing section (130) measures a reaction product produced as an analysis target from the reagent, etc. and the sample under agitation, and then analyzes components of the sample. With such a construction, adjustment work needed in an agitating section can be simplified, and satisfactory analyzed results can be obtained regardless of differences in frequency characteristics of ultrasonic wave generators used for ultrasonic agitation.

  • Patent number: 6737021
Abstract: Multiple piezoelectric elements 35 are arranged in a row along the top of liquid level in a reaction vessel 11. An ultrasonic reflecting material 38 is installed on the bottom of the portion of the heat insulating bath 12 where heat insulating medium 13 is stored. A lateral ultrasonic wave 9b is generated on the lower side by actuation of the piezoelectric element 35. Wave 9b is reflected by the ultrasonic reflecting material 38. As lower ultrasonic wave 8 advances along the wall surface of the reaction vessel, it collides with the specimen liquid, thereby causing a portion of the liquid level closer to the piezoelectric element 35 to be raised. When lateral ultrasonic wave 9a is applied to this portion, it reaches the inclined portion of the raised liquid level of the specimen. Swirling flow by agitation 36 is produced by acoustic radiation pressure of the ultrasonic wave. The specimen and reagent are mixed and agitated by this swirling flow.

  • Publication number: 20040076545
Abstract: In order to provide an automatic analyzer capable of ensuring an effective agitation of the reagent and specimen, hence, highly reliable results of analysis, despite small size of the reaction vessel, without carry-over among different specimens, a multiple piezoelectric elements 35 are arranged in a row along the height of liquid level in the reaction vessel 11, and an ultrasonic reflecting material 38 is installed on the bottom of the portion of the heat insulating bath 12 where heat insulating medium 13 is stored. Lateral ultrasonic wave 9b on the lower side is generated by actuation of the piezoelectric element 35 for lateral irradiation located at the bottom. Lateral ultrasonic wave 9b is reflected by the ultrasonic reflecting material 38, and, as lower ultrasonic wave 8, advances along the wall surface of the reaction vessel to collide with the specimen liquid level, thereby causing a part of the liquid level being closer to the piezoelectric element 35 to be raised.

  • Publication number: 20040057872
Abstract: A reagent dispensing mechanism (15), first and second dispensing-mechanism transfer means (26, 27), and a second reagent vessel (reagent cassette) carrying-in/out mechanism (24), which are constructed by employing an XY-mechanism, are arranged so as to travel above a reagent table (25) to carry in/out a reagent cassette (22). As compared with the case where the reagent cassette carrying-in/out mechanism (24) is installed radially of the reagent table (25), the area of an automatic analyzer in the horizontal direction can be reduced and a reagent vessel (16) can be moved to a predetermined position in a shorter time by combining the rotation of the reagent table (25) with the movement of the XY-mechanism. Further, as compared the case of dispensing reagents from reagent vessels in a matrix pattern by using the reagent dispensing/transferring mechanism, the travel distance of the transferring mechanism can be shortened and so can be the travel time.

  • Patent number: 6684630
Abstract: A direct-injection, spark-ignition engine of the present invention includes a turbo-charging device which promotes the temperature rise or activation of the exhaust-gas purification catalyst disposed downstream of a turbine during cold start. During engine cold start, the fuel injection by the fuel injector is divided into a leading fuel injection performed during the latter half of the compression stroke, prior to the ignition timing, and a trailing fuel injection performed during the expansion stroke, after the ignition timing. The amount of the intake-air and the amount of the fuel injection are so controlled that the air-fuel ratio in the combustion chamber during the combustion of the fuel by the leading fuel injection (a leading air-fuel ratio) is within the range of 2<&lgr;<3, and the air-fuel ratio in the combustion chamber during the combustion of the fuel by the trailing fuel injection (a total air-fuel ratio) is within the range of 1<&lgr;<2.

  • Patent number: 6550445
Abstract: A spark-ignition type 4-cycle direct injection engine is provided with a turbocharger for boosting intake air and an injector for directly injecting fuel to a combustion chamber within a cylinder, wherein in a &lgr;=1 region (II) and an enriched region (III) on the high-speed high-load side, fuel is injected during the intake stroke of the cylinder to attain a state of homogenous combustion. When the engine is in the high-speed side (specific region) of the enriched region (III), the air-fuel ratio A/F of the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder is controlled to become A/F≦13, the tumble flow T is strengthened by closing the TSCVs, and the opening degree of a wastegate valve of the turbocharger is controlled in order to increase the maximum boost pressure and compensate the drop in intake efficiency that is caused by closing the TSCVs.
