  • Patent number: 7119914
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to detect whether or not a conveying path is in a state capable of discharging a recording medium, having a recorded image thereon, outside of the apparatus, so as to prevent generation of a jam in conveyance and discharge of the recording medium. A state of covering a discharge port by a cover member is detected, and image recording on a recording medium is executed only when the recording medium can be conveyed and discharged. Non-execution of recording is indicated to an operator, and execution of recording is resumed when the cover member is moved to a state not obstructing conveyance and discharge of the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 6585363
Abstract: In order to deposit a liquid for improving fixing ability and water resistance of an ink at an optimal position in an appropriate amount, to maximize an effect of the liquid, and to easily generate a driving data for ejecting the liquid, low resolution printing data for respective of four printing heads is read out from a frame memory. A logical sum of the printing data is calculated by an OR circuit. Then, the logical sum is processed by a look-up table to generate the driving data for the liquid ejecting head corresponding to high resolution.

  • Patent number: 6547358
Abstract: In an ink jet printer, formation time of processing for generating data for providing a treatment liquid for improving fixing or water resistance of an ink by insolubilizing or coagulating a color material in the ink is reduced. For this purpose, to perform HV conversion for raster data for image data related to printing, processing for temporarily storing image data and processing of rewriting the HV conversion result are performed in a same sequence. For example, a treatment liquid data formation register having the same structure as an HV conversion register is provided. This register is masked to a pattern according to a treatment liquid composition on a printing medium and is made corresponding to data bits of the HV conversion register. Print data accessed by the HV conversion register is located in relation to the access, thereby forming the treatment liquid data simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 6203133
Abstract: A recording apparatus records at a higher resolution than the resolution of input image data. A half toning processor performs a halftoning process at each pixel of the input image to get multi level data from the input image data. A data producer produces pattern data corresponding to the pixel of the input image based on the multi level data. Data for a plurality of different patterns is produced for at least one value of the multi level data.

  • Patent number: 6123404
Abstract: A recording head is provided with a plurality of recording elements. In the recording head, the number of record data can be counted accurately, following high-speed recording operation by counting only the number of drive data input via one signal line by means of a counter, from drive data input to two shift registers via signal lines according to a clock signal.

  • Patent number: 6113290
Abstract: An ink jet recording apparatus includes an edge detection unit that detects the positions of pixels in one pixel line in which data changes from 0 to 1 in accordance with the data serially converted from ORed data in a state where the data representing OR of each recording data on each ink color, and a discharge control data formation unit that forms fixing process driving data including data 1 at a given ratio to AND data obtainable by operating AND between the serially converted data from the ORed data and the detection output from the edge detection unit.

  • Patent number: 6108102
Abstract: An image processing and image forming system inputs multivalued image data having a resolution of 300.times.300 dpi, converts the resolution of the data to a higher resolution of 600.times.1200 dpi and forms an image. In a memory, pattern data corresponding to image data of a predetermined color is stored in advance. When color data, image data (code) and data corresponding to an image forming position are input to the memory as an address, the memory outputs pattern data stored at that address. By selectively outputting the pattern data read from the memory in accordance with the forming position, color image data whose resolution has been converted is output to form an image.

  • Patent number: 6099102
Abstract: An ink jet recording method comprises a pixel-recording step for forming each pixel by fewer droplets than the number of droplets to be required for obtaining a gradation of an image. Therefore all of the pixels required for the image are recorded without removing any pixel from them.

  • Patent number: 6095644
Abstract: An ink-jet printing apparatus performs a printing process by discharging ink from color ink heads and treatment liquid from a liquid head for making the ink insoluble or coherent. The printing apparatus has the minimum amount of memory required to eject the treatment liquid as far as possible and performs excellent printing. For discharge data of one scanning performance of the color ink heads, the apparatus has only memories for each color ink head. Discharge data for the treatment liquid is formed by a treatment liquid discharge data creating portion based on the data stored in the memories upon switched by data-switching portion. Then the discharge data for the liquid head is supplied to the head after being stored in a buffer as much as the number of orifices of the head.

  • Patent number: 6085028
Abstract: A data control apparatus is structured to execute complementary recording on one pixel array by dividing the scans of a recording head into four. In a nozzle context memory, the nozzle context data, which can be updated, are stored as control data to determine discharge or non-discharge of ink from discharge ports. In an operational circuit, the nozzle context data and image data are processed operationally, thus outputting drive data for the recording head. The data that indicates ink discharge in one pixel array are sequentially assigned to recording data per scan appropriately by use of the nozzle context data and the operational circuit. With the structure thus arranged, it is possible to implement making the capacity of memory smaller for use of data to control recording or non-recording, and also, to execute an intermittent recording by controlling recording or non-recording as required.
