  • Patent number: 9092288
Abstract: When a power supply is cut off on updating programs, improper data remains since the power source to be supplied to the vehicle-mounted device is unstable. The check for the improper data and restoration processing are required for a reactivation processing implemented by an update processing unit so that the update is completed correctly, therefore, the user is waited. In contrast, the update processing also implemented by the update processing unit for a time period during which the power source becomes unstable is interrupted, and implemented for the time period during which the power source voltage is stable. The power source voltage is considered to be unstable based on a function of the vehicle speed, brake pedal actuation, parking brake actuation, and/or power source activation. In consequence, the update processing is carried on steadily without making the user wait.

  • Patent number: 7415338
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling operation of auxiliary equipment of a vehicle by receiving an output of a surroundings detection sensor for detecting the surrounding of the vehicle and an output of the vehicle information sensor, for detecting operation of the vehicle, wherein the distance to and the direction of an overtaking vehicle, an oncoming vehicle, or a preceding vehicle and the light intensities of the right and the left headlamps are controlled independently. A plurality of processes required for controlling the vehicle auxiliary equipment are performed by the time division processing.

  • Patent number: 7247838
Abstract: An image processing system includes a lamp which emits light to a glass, an imaging device which captures light which is emitted from the lamp and reflected by the glass, and an optical filter, located between the glass and the imaging device, which transmits rays with a specific wavelength of the reflected light. A lens is provided in front of the imaging device, and a focus of the lens is adjusted to a point beyond the glass, and an image processor is provided which processes an image captured by the imaging device and detects moisture on the glass.

  • Patent number: 7208723
Abstract: An image processing system that detects foreign matter on a glass window of a vehicle and objects in front of the vehicle. The system includes an image processor, a first lamp, and a second lamp. On/off control of the first and second lamps is controlled by the image processor. Light from the first lamp is reflected from the outer sauce of the glass when raindrops are present on the outside of the glass. Light from the second lamp is reflected from the inner surface of the glass when moisture is present on the inside of the glass. Any reflected light goes through a lens and an optical filter with prescribed optical characteristics to an image device. The lens is focused to a point beyond the window so that the image processor an also detect objects in front of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20060158715
Abstract: The variable transmissivity window system comprises a camera for detecting light from a light source, a transmissivity control unit for controlling the transmissivity of light passed through the windshield, and a transmissivity modifying unit for modifying the transmissivity of each of blocks into which the windshield is divided. The camera calculates light source information including the direction, size and intensity of the light source. The transmissivity control unit calculates a position of the windshield block for the transmissivity to be modified, a range of the position thereof for the transmissivity to be modified, and a value for the transmissivity. The imaging unit decides whether or not the light source gives glare to the occupant, and when the imaging unit decides that the light source gives glare to the occupant, the imaging unit changes a glare decision threshold according to an ambient light level outside the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20050035926
Abstract: An image processing system which detects foreign matter on window of a vehicle with high reliability. The system includes an image processor, a first lamp, and a second lamp and when to turn on the first and second lamps is controlled by the image processor. Light from the first lamp passes through the glass. If there are raindrops on the outer surface of the glass, light is reflected by raindrops and light from the second lamp is reflected by a surface of the glass and such reflected light goes through a lens and an optical filter with prescribed optical characteristics to an imaging device.
