Abstract: A data processing apparatus suitable for fast processing of a large amount of data provides continuous and real-time reproduction of moving pictures that have a reality to them. In one embodiment, the data processing apparatus includes: a first memory for receiving and storing first transfer data supplied from an external device in a first transfer mode for transferring data in a predetermined cycle; a second memory for receiving and storing second transfer data supplied from the external device in a second transfer mode, the second transfer mode transfers the second transfer data using a remaining time resulting from exclusion of a time needed for transfer of the first transfer data from the predetermined cycle; a first interface for receiving the first transfer data read from the first memory and outputting the first transfer data; and a second interface for receiving the second transfer data read from the second memory and outputting the second transfer data.
Abstract: A small computer system interface device is capable of transmitting data between a central digital data processing device and an external device without the need for terminal resistors coupled between the SCSI and the central digital data processing device. A pair of data buses each containing equal number of data lines supply data to a protocol controller which identifies the number of data lines being used to transfer data and then transfers the supplied data to a disk drive unit using the full number of data lines provided by said pair of buses. When the number of bus lines used is less than that provided by both buses, the protocol controller signals a level setting circuit to set the number of bus lines unused by to transfer data from the central digital processing device inactive so as to allow the throughput of data between the digital processing device, SCSI and disk drive unit.
Abstract: Apparatus for recording and/or reproducing user data recorded on a record medium. The apparatus includes record encoder for converting original user data into encoded user data of a predetermined record code and an error correcting code generator for generating original error correcting code data for correcting an error with respect to the encoded user data. A write unit records the encoded user data and the error correcting code on the record medium. A read unit reads the recorded data and the reproduced data is error corrected so as to provide the original user data.
Abstract: A magnetic disk recording and reproducing apparatus including a unit for inserting an error correcting code relating to control information in the control information, the control information relating to data, a recording control unit for recording the control information and the data in a recording area of a magnetic disk, the recording area having a plurality of sectors, each of the sectors having an ID area for recording the control information and a data area for recording the data, the data area corresponding to the ID area and being provided adjacent to and behind the ID area in the same sector as the ID area, and an error correcting unit for correcting errors in the control information in the ID area using the error correcting code before the data in the data area corresponding to the ID area and provided in the same sector as the ID area is read or recorded.
Abstract: A hair trimmer for trimming hairs including a casing having an actuating device; a cutter head disposed at one end of the casing and including a generally elongated fixed blade and a movable blade adapted to be driven by the actuating device so as to reciprocate relative to the fixed blade in a cutting plane to trim the hairs; and a hair restraint edge for regulating a distance between the cutter head and the scalp to permit the hairs to extend across a space between the cutter head and the hair restraint edge in a substantially layer form of a thickness equal to the distance to the cutter head.
Abstract: A buffing apparatus which can buff a thin plate work without causing buckling. The buffing apparatus comprises a plurality of buffing rolls removably secured in a predetermined spaced relationship from each other to a shaft which is driven to rotate, a backup roll disposed in parallel to the buffing rolls and extending over the overall length of all of the buffing rolls, and a holding roll disposed at least between each adjacent ones of the buffing rolls. The holding roll is positioned such that the axis thereof is positioned on a straight line interconnecting the center of transverse section of one of the buffing rolls and the center of a transverse section of the backup roll and an outer periphery thereof substantially contacts with a contacting plane of the buffing rolls.
Abstract: A hair clipper has a cutter head on the front end of a housing. The cutter head includes a toothed stationary blade and a toothed movable blade reciprocating on the stationary blade in a hair shearing engagement between individual toothed edges thereof. The movable blade is slidable relative to the stationary blade in an edgewise direction perpendicular to the reciprocating motion of the movable blade for varying a cut length of hairs. An adjuster handle is slidably fitted on an outer round surface of the housing and linked to the movable blade through a linkage member such that the movable blade is shifted in the edgewise direction to increase and reduce the cut length by rotating the adjuster handle about a longitudinal axis of the housing. In addition, the hair clipper can be formed in such a structure that the reciprocating motion of the movable blade is turned on and off at the opposite ends of the rotation range of the adjuster handle.
Abstract: A motor-driven hair cutter is provided with a main cutter and a trimmer at a front end of an elongated housing. Each of the main cutter and the trimmer is a reciprocatory cutter comprising a toothed stationary blade and a toothed movable blade driven to reciprocate in hair shearing engagement with the stationary blade. The trimmer is movable between a retracted position in which a cutting edge of the trimmer is behind a cutting edge of the main cutter and a projected position in which the cutting edge of the trimmer projects forwardly of the main cutter so that the trimmer alone can be used. The trimmer blades are formed to be smaller in thickness as well as in cutting edge width than those of the main cutter blades in order to facilitate a delicate trimming of hairs in a restricted area of a user's head by the trimmer.
Abstract: In a vehicle generator comprising a bracket, a shaft rotatably supported by the bracket, a rotor fixed to the shaft, fans fixed to the rotor, a stator disposed at an outer circumference of the rotor and fixed to the bracket, a rectifier and a brush holder attached to a bottom surface of the bracket, and a partition plate attached to the brush holder and extended axially and radially between the bracket and the brush holder, the improvement in that an opening portion is formed in the axial portion of the partition plate at a central portion thereof. A groove may be provided in a portion of the bracket opposed to the opening portion.

Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the supply of air to a burner used to recombust diesel particulates trapped in a ceramic filter. The inventive control apparatus includes an exhaust bypass line that bypasses the filter, an air supply line leading to a burner associated with the filter, a flow control valve that adjusts the cross-sectional area for the air flow in the air supply line, a relief valve that maintains a constant difference between pressures at points upstream and downstream of the flow control valve, and a control unit that controls the degree of opening of the flow control valve. With the invention, precise control over the flow rate of secondary air is ensured.
Abstract: A vane pump comprises a rotor mounted on a rotary shaft in coaxial therewith, a plurality of vanes held in the circumferential part of the rotor so as to be slidable in the radial direction, a housing having an inner space of an elliptical form in cross section, in which the top ends of the vanes projecting from the rotor by centrifugal force resulted from the revolution of the rotor move in slide-contact with the inner wall of the housing, two parts in the small radius sections of the elliptical inner space being close to the outer surface of the rotor, while two parts in the large radius sections having cylindrical inner surfaces which form two operating chambers in association with the rotor, and intake and discharge ports being respectively communicated with the operating chambers.

Abstract: A vane-type pump having a rotatable shaft, a cylindrical housing, a rotor secured to the shaft so as to be rotated within the housing with the center line being offset from that of the housing, and a number of vanes radially shiftably received within the radial slots formed in the rotor is disclosed wherein a cylindrical casing is disposed between the cylindrical inner periphery of the housing and the rotor, the cylindrical inner periphery of the casing being adapted to have the radially outward peripheries of the vanes abut against it due to centrifugal force applied thereto when they are rotated together with the rotor, and the casing is constituted to be rotated by the shaft through any suitable transmission mechanism arranged between them in the same direction as the rotational direction of the rotor, but at a velocity lower than that of the shaft.
Abstract: An automatic focus detecting device comprising an image sensor for electrically converting distributions of two images of an object which are formed by two restricted light beams passed through different areas in a zooming lens system into time sequence video signals which in turn are extracted at predetermined extraction intervals and directed to a correlator for deciding the degree of agreement between the two images. The video signal extraction is effected in two operation modes; one is for a high accuracy focus detection and the other for a rough accuracy focus detection. In the former operation mode, a time sequence video signal of a narrow image is extracted at short intervals and on the other hand, in the latter operation mode, a time sequence video signal of a wide image is extracted at long intervals.
Abstract: A diesel particulate filter system for treating the exhaust gas of a diesel engine which is small in size and inexpensive. The system includes a particulate filter connected in a gas line from the engine, a burner, including an ignition plug, connected at a point upstream of the particulate filter and which is supplied with fuel, a primary air flow for atomizing the fuel, and a secondary air flow for burning the particulates trapped in the particular filter and which supplies the particulate filter with a hot burning gas produced by the ignition plug. Primary and secondary pumps supply, respectively, the primary and secondary air flows. A single motor drives both the primary and secondary air pumps. The ignition plug and motor are controlled so that when the amount of particulates trapped in the filter exceeds a preset level, the ignition plug and motor are activated to clean the filter by burning the particulates in the burner.
Abstract: A vane type pump having vanes 9 slidingly confined in radial slots 8a in a rotor 8 operating eccentrically in a cylindrical casing 6 rotatably disposed in the housing 4 of the pump. A clutch 10 engages and disengages the rotor with the pump shaft 2 according to the speed of the shaft. The provision of the frictionally rotatable casing and the clutch enables the pump to operate at high speed with minimal vane wear and with reduced or no lubricating oil.
Abstract: A vacuum pump directly driven by a starting motor of an engine which can operate with a constant number of rotations even while the engine is running. The starting motor is shut off when the engine has reached a predetermined speed and then restarted to drive the pump in response to the vacuum in the vacuum tank or pressure accumulating portion of the master bag.
Abstract: A pump device connected to an AC generator for a car includes shoulder portions formed on both side surfaces of a plate or the side surface of an end frame and a housing, and chamfered portions or grooves formed in the end frame and the housing or the plate at positions corresponding to the shoulder portions.
