  • Patent number: 6822634
Abstract: A handheld control device of a system is coupled to a display screen comprising a number of lines. The device comprises a pushbutton for each line. The user can scroll through a series of possible contents of a line associated with a pushbutton, but only if the relevant pushbutton is depressed. Changing the contents of the line by the user thus becomes a coherent operation, so that the device will less readily respond to unintentional actuation of the controls.

  • Patent number: 6359657
Abstract: A method and arrangement for simultaneously displaying a graphic image (23) (e.g., a control menu of a television receiver or video recorder) and a video image (22). In order to achieve optimal legibility of the menu without fully obscuring the underlying video signal, the graphic image is accommodated within a window (21) and the window is given an adequate color (24) which is additively mixed with the video signal. The mixing factor is preferably controlled in response to the amount of spatial and/or temporal activity of the video signal within the window.

  • Patent number: 6340971
Abstract: A method and device for keyframe-based video displaying using a video cursor frame in a multikeyframe screen. Keyframe-based displaying of a video presentation enables a user to select among keyframes, and based on the selecting displays a substantially continuous video stream relating to the presentation. In particular, various keyframes are displayed in parallel in a reduced and static video format, and the displaying is controlled as starting from a particular active key frame which subsequently acts as a dynamic cursor frame within the video format. The cursor may be dynamic video plus dynamic audio, dynamic video alone, or static video per interval plus dynamic audio.
