  • Patent number: 6197484
Abstract: A homogeneous, single part slurry-form color photographic developer composition for use in color photographic processing is provided which comprises a defined compound of Formula (1) and, a p-phenylenediamine derivative, and contains a discontinuous solid phase distributed in a single liquid phase. The slurry is used by being completely dissolved in water, and diluted to make a working tank developer or developer replenisher solution, typically with a pH of about 10.4 or less for the working tank and 12.0 or less for the replenisher. The slurry is compact, homogeneous, easy to dispense, has excellent water solubility, and remains free of degradation during long-term storage. A process for developing photographic color silver halide photosensitive material with the slurry is also provided, as well as a process for making the slurry.

  • Patent number: 5328814
Abstract: A method for making flowable alkaline thiosulfate, flowable alkaline sulfite, or a combination of the two, by blending an alkaline thiosulfate, an alkaline sulfite, or a combination of the two, with an alkali metal arylsulfonate.formaldehyde in an amount effective to render the alkaline thiosulfate, the alkaline sulfite, or the combination freely flowable, and the product of this method. It has been found that the product of this method, such as freely flowable ammonium thiosulfate powder mixture, can be stored in a freely flowable condition for extended periods of time and can be dissolved into solution readily to form a clear non-turbid solution. The freely flowable ammonium thiosulfate powdered mixture of the present invention is particularly useful as a photographic fixative and bleach fixative for processing photographic elements.

  • Patent number: 4882264
Abstract: A color developer composition that maintains developer activity in all color forming layers and increases developer capacity is disclosed. The color developer composition allows use of reduced temperature, process time, replenishment rate, or concentration of developing agent without causing color imbalance. The composition employs two or more different color developing agents in combination. Each agent in a composition is selected from the group consisting of p-amino-N-dialkylanilines and the salts thereof. The composition of the present invention may be employed in conventional color developing processes without any significant change in conventional processing procedures and steps.

  • Patent number: 4780398
Abstract: A bleaching composition for color photographic materials consists essentially of an aqueous solution containing a complex of ferric ion and an aminopolycarboxylic acid or salt thereof; a mercapto-substituted 5-membered heterocyclic nitrogen compound having at least two nitrogen atoms; and a vinyl pyrrolidone polymer selected from the group consisting of poly-N-vinyl pyrrolidone and an alkyl-substituted poly-N-vinyl pyrrolidone.Use of the novel bleaching composition in the bleaching process for color photographic materials results in a substantial reduction in bleaching time while preventing the formation of a precipitate during the process. Further, use of the bleaching composition and process permits a significant reduction in the amounts of bleaching agent and other components of the bleaching solution required where the bleaching time is not critical which results in a substantial cost reduction.

  • Patent number: 4565776
Abstract: Oxidation inhibiting amounts of alkylated diphenyl oxide disulfonates are incorporated into photographic color developers containing primary aromatic amino color developing agents to increase clarity and inhibit the formation of tar-like precipitates in these developers. Typical disulfonates include sodium dodecyl diphenyl ether disulfonate, sodium decyl diphenyl ether disulfonate, sodium cetyl diphenyl ether disulfonate, monocetyl diphenyl ether disulfonate, dicetyl diphenyl ether disulfonate and mixtures thereof. The use of disulfonates of this type substantially eliminates the need for cosolvents such as alkanolamines to inhibit the formation of tar-like particles in the developers.

  • Patent number: H1648
Abstract: A method for storing and reusing a photographic processing solution, and in particular an overflow developing solution, comprises contacting a processing solution which has been removed from a processing bath, in a storage vessel, with an effective amount of a preservative so as to prevent any substantial degradation in activity of the processing solution during a storage period. The solution then exits the storage vessel and is preferably reintroduced into the processing bath from which it was removed after treatment to increase the activity thereof, e.g., regeneration and/or removal of deleterious by products.
