  • Patent number: 10765033
Abstract: Immersion cooling enclosures with insulating liners and associated computing facilities are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, an immersion cooling enclosure includes a well formed in a substrate material, a lid in contact with and fastened to the well to enclose an internal space configured to contain a dielectric coolant submerging one or more computing devices in the internal space, and an insulating liner on the internal surfaces of the well. The insulating liner has a first side in contact with the dielectric coolant and a second side in contact with the substrate material of the well. The insulating liner is non-permeable to the dielectric coolant, thereby preventing the dielectric coolant from passing through the insulating liner to the substrate material.

  • Patent number: 10750637
Abstract: A removable immersion cooling infrastructure module can have a form factor equivalent to that of one or more of the computing devices being cooled by immersion cooling, thereby enabling the immersion cooling infrastructure module to be installed and removed in the same simplified and efficient manner. Moreover, the quantity of immersion cooling infrastructure modules can be varied depending on need, since the immersion cooling infrastructure modules and computing devices can be interchangeable within the openings designed to house the computing devices. An immersion cooling infrastructure module can comprise a filter, a pump that can circulate the immersion cooling liquid through the filter, a power supply and a controller, with the module receiving power, and, optionally, communications and other like connectivity, from the same source as the computing devices.

  • Patent number: 10667435
Abstract: A rack acclimating device can accelerate the acclimation of an already assembled rack of computing equipment to an environment. A rack acclimating device can comprise one or more heating elements and an air moving device that can be oriented to move air across the heating elements and then through the rack of computing equipment. Additionally, the rack acclimating device can comprise a controller or other like computing device that can receive environmental sensor data and, based upon the received environmental sensor data, can control the heating elements and air moving device. Environmental sensor data can be received from environmental sensors, such as temperature and/or humidity sensors, which can be positioned to sense various environmental aspects. A rack acclimating device can also comprise a hood or other like structure to confine and direct the heated air from the heating elements and/or air moving device to the computer equipment rack.

  • Publication number: 20200116690
Abstract: Air quality inside a computing device is monitored utilizing an air quality monitor that can be sized to simulate a server computing device and can have multiple sensing equipment mounted inside, including equipment to detect corrosive aspects in the air and condensation sensing equipment to detect instances in which condensation can form on computing device hardware. Corrosion sensing can include metallic members that can be electrically coupled to voltage that can induce a current within the metallic members, thereby more accurately simulating the corrosion of operating PCBs. Condensation sensing can include condensation hosting members that can have a thermal mass that is approximately equal to the thermal mass of PCBs and can include heating elements by which the condensation hosting members can more accurately simulate the thermal effects and aspects of operating PCBs, and also moisture detectors, including electrical and optical moisture detectors. Additionally, an off-gassing chamber can be included.

  • Publication number: 20180228060
Abstract: A method of controlling a data center having a cold air cooling system, and at least one containment structure, comprising: determining a minimum performance constraint; determining optimum states of the cold air cooling system, a controlled leakage of air across the containment structure between a hot region and a cold air region, and information technology equipment for performing tasks to meet the minimum performance constraint, to minimize operating cost; and generating control signals to the cold air cooling system, a controlled leakage device, and the information technology equipment in accordance with the determined optimum states.
