Abstract: An information processing device to generate data pertaining to a document from electronic paper which has a display section to display and retain the document, and a memory to store document identification data, includes a document data storage unit which stores document electronic data, a communication unit which acquires document identification data from the electronic paper, a reading unit which scans the display section, a data extraction unit which extracts from the document data storage unit document electronic data corresponding to the document identification data, a difference processing unit which extracts a note image appended on a surface of the display section according to a difference between an image from the extracted document electronic data and an image of the scanned display section, and a data generation unit which associates data of the extracted appendix image and the extracted document electronic data, thereby generates data pertaining to the document.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus writes an image to a display recording medium at a write position. The image forming apparatus includes an insertion slot, a transport unit, an image light emitting device and a separating/contacting unit. The display recording medium is inserted into the insertion slot. The transport unit transports the display recording medium inserted, to/from the write position. The image light emitting device includes an emitting surface that emits two-dimensional image light for irradiating a photoconductive layer of the display recording medium at the write position. The separating/contacting unit brings the emitting surface separate from a display recording medium surface when the display recording medium is not opposed to the image light emitting device, while the transport unit transports the display recording medium. The separating/contacting unit brings the emitting surface into proximity to the display recording medium surface when the display recording medium is at the write position.

Abstract: An electronic paper system includes: electronic paper having a display unit that can display and retain an image in a no-power state; image generation means for generating a displaying image by combining a scale-down image of at least a part of a document and an image of at least part of related information of the document; and write means for writing the generated displaying image into the display unit of the electronic paper so that the display unit displays and retains the generated displaying image.

When the information written onto the recording medium is to be used at a later timing, the medium ID is identified, and the index information is obtained from the server. Therefore, the original information can be obtained so as to be easily reprocessed or reused.

Abstract: An information management system which enables analysis on basis of a processing history of content with use of a portable displaying-and-recording medium, includes a log recording function of managing user identification data to specify a user who owns the portable displaying-and-recording medium and content identification data to specify content, and recording the user identification data and the content identification data in an associated manner after the user performs processing of the content. Preferably, the portable displaying-and-recording medium records/retains data in a state where content is displayed and is capable of rewriting the content.

Abstract: A printed-matter issuing client takes out contents from a contents management server, and prints the contents on a printing recording part, while at the same time records ID information indicative of a storage location of the contents into an IC chip integrated into the printing recording part. A printed-matter verifying client reads out an image to be verified on a printing surface of a printing recording part, by an information acquiring part, and acquires ID information from the IC chip. The printed-matter verifying client takes out contents from the contents management server according to the ID information, and verifies it with the image on the print surface, and it judges whether the printing recording part is true or false on the basis of the verifying result.

Abstract: A writing device constituting an electronic book includes a connector to which electronic papers are detachably connected. The number of connected sheets of electronic paper is recognized, and is output to a host computer. In the host computer, display data is output on the basis of the number of electronic papers, and the display data is written in the electronic papers by a write control unit. When a change of connections of the electronic papers is detected by the detection unit, a part of images displayed on the electronic papers is rewritten depending on the detected connection states of the electronic papers by which optimum images on the electronic papers are displayed even if an arbitrary electronic paper is attached or detached.

Since the contents-display-purpose display medium is constituted by a display medium having a memory characteristic, power consumption may be reduced, and this display medium having the memory characteristic may be dismounted. Since the display screen for the selection operation and the display screen for the contents display operation are separately provided, the user can perform the work by viewing the content of the data in correspondence with the data, so that the work efficiency can be increased.

Abstract: The present invention provides an image-forming device that can record an image onto a rewritable image recording medium. Prior to recording a predetermined image, the medium is set and a test image for measuring the density is recorded thereon. When the density is determined to be within an allowable range, the predetermined image is recorded under certain image recording conditions and then discharged to a discharging tray. However, should the density be outside the allowable range, the conditions are changed and another test image is recorded to the medium. If after repeated density measurements the density is not within an allowable range, the device determines that the medium is defective and discharges it to an error tray.
