  • Patent number: 10252277
Abstract: A solid-bowl screw centrifuge includes one or more discharge weir(s) for discharging clarified liquid out of a drum which has a rotational axis and a rotational direction. The centrifuge has one or more through-opening(s) in a drum cover, each of which is associated with a weir plate having a recess. An open discharge channel is formed on the through-opening at the recess, a deflection from a direction parallel to the rotational direction of the drum substantially into a circumferential direction in the rotational direction being carried out by the discharge channel. The discharge channel is designed such that exiting liquid is conducted over the base of the discharge channel to an overflow edge. The base of the discharge channel to the overflow edge is inclined inwards in the rotational direction relative to the tangential direction by an inclination angle ??0 at the point of the overflow edge.

  • Patent number: 9333514
Abstract: A solid-wall screw centrifuge includes a discharge for discharging a clarified liquid from a drum of the centrifuge. The drum includes a passage in a drum cover associated with a weir plate. The passage, drum cover, and weir plate form an overflow weir on a radial inner edge. A deflecting device is arranged on an outside on the drum cover, the deflecting device is arranged such that an exiting fluid flow from the centrifuge is one of deflected in the circumferential direction and subjected to a twist in the circumferential direction.

  • Patent number: 7234918
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to a system and method for controlling the size of gaps in a turbine engine. In many instances, it is desirable to minimize the size of the gaps between neighboring rotating and stationary components in a turbine engine, such as between a disc cover plate and a proximate pre-swirler. According to embodiments of the invention, each component can be provided with a sealing surface. The sealing surfaces can be angled relative to the axis of rotation. The sealing surfaces are spaced from each other so as to form a gap therebetween. The sealing surfaces may or may not be substantially parallel. As a result of such configuration, the size of the gap can be controlled by axial and radial movement of the components. For example, the gap between the cover plate and the pre-swirler can be adjusted by axially movement of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 7083565
Abstract: The present invention is a solid-bowl screw centrifuge that includes a centrifugal drum. The drum has a drum casing and a screw with a screw body that is surrounded by a screw blade. The screw blade forms at least one screw spiral with a conveying path for transporting material to be centrifuged. The centrifuge also includes an inlet into the centrifugal drum, at least one solid matter discharge and at least one liquid outlet. The centrifuge includes a drum chamber that is axially closed by a drum cover having essentially a conical shape. Further included is a disk stack having at least one conical disk, and the disk stack is mounted to the drum cover directly upstream of the liquid outlet. At least a portion of the disk stack is arranged in a cylindrical section of the drum chamber that has an essentially constant diameter. A screw disk is arranged on the screw body between the drum cover and a first screw spiral.

Abstract: The present invention relates to solid bowl screw centrifuge comprising a centrifuging chamber having a rotatable screw with a center axis and a rotatable drum surrounding the centrifuging chamber. Also included is an axially extending inflow tube for guiding material to be centrifuged into a distributor. The distributor is oriented in a substantially perpendicular manner with respect to the center axis of the screw and configured for introducing the material to be centrifuged into the centrifuging chamber. The distributor further includes at least one wall having a surface structure that includes projections configured such that a substantial portion of the material to be centrifuged flowing through the distributor must flow around at least one of the projections.
