  • Publication number: 20040207137
Abstract: A compression spring rod for relatively displacing elements attached to end mounts of the rod assembly comprises a housing having a rod member moveable between extended and retracted positions relative thereto, and a first compression spring in the housing surrounded by a second compression spring for biasing the rod member to one of an extended or retracted position relative to the housing. The two springs are oppositely wound, of different length, of different outside diameter, and of different wire diameter whereby, from a compressed condition, the spring rod exerts an expansion force which increases at a linear rate. Two sets of the springs can be arranged for biasing the rod member to a central position relative to the housing.

  • Publication number: 20040154791
Abstract: A shock absorber for use between the reciprocating member of an oil well pumping mechanism and a polish rod connected to the rod spring and movable along a vertical pumping axis. The shock absorber comprises an upper and lower end plate having a peripheral surface around the plumping axis and defining a polish rod clearance opening. A coil spring is located between the plates and is concentric with and surrounding the pumping axis. A friction reducing centering head secured to at least one of the plates (preferably the lower plates) centers polish rod in the clearance opening and holds the polish rod away from the peripheral wall of the plate.

  • Publication number: 20040113341
Abstract: A lift spring assembly has a compression spring rod with a housing having a longitudinal axis and axially opposite ends, and having a rod member coaxial with the axis and having an inner end in the housing and an outer end axially outwardly of one of the opposite ends. A guide member is provided on the inner end of the rod member for supporting the rod member during movement of the rod member. A first stage spring assembly extends between one of the opposite ends of the housing and the guide member. A second stage spring assembly extends between the other of the opposite ends of the housing and the guide member. A mounting member extending from one of the opposite ends of the housing for mounting the spring rod assembly to a hood assembly. A locking member is pivotally connected to the mounting member and pivots into locking engagement with one of the ends of the housing.

  • Publication number: 20040104566
Abstract: A positive lock mechanism having a compression spring rod with a housing, a rod member having an inner end in said housing and an outer end axially outwardly of a housing end. One or more compression springs extend between a guide member and an end of the housing. A positive locking mechanism is provided to prevent movement of the rod member in a longitudinal direction. The lock mechanism is controlled by a wire and cable assembly operated by a lever.

  • Patent number: 5090989
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for orienting a glass sheet (12) on a glass sheet shaping mold (16) is disclosed as including a plurality of air actuated cylinders (32) mounted on the mold (16). Each cylinder (32) includes a glass sheet nester (34) that is actuable by cylinder (32) between a raised position, above the mold (16) for locating the glass sheet (12) with the cooperable operation of backgate assembly (24) as the glass sheet (12) moves along a topside support device (14), and a lowered position, below the mold surface (26) whereby the glass sheet (12) can be deposited on the mold (16) for forming.

  • Patent number: 4775404
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for registering a glass sheet (12) on a mold (24) is disclosed as including a plurality of glass sheet locators (26) movably mounted on the mold. Each locator (26) includes a connector (28) pivotal in a horizontal plane about a pivotal axis (A) extending vertically from the mold. Each connector (28) also is vertically moveable along its pivotal axis (A) between a raised position above the mold (24) for locating the glass sheet (12) as the glass sheet moves along a topside transfer platen (14) and a lowered position below a curved mold surface (25). Linkages (30) connect the locators (26) for cooperable operation to position the glass sheet (12) with respect to the mold (24). An actuator (32) moves the linkages (30) to raise the locators (26) above the mold to locate the glass sheet (12) on the topside transfer platen (14) with the cooperable operation of a back gate (22).
