Patent number: 7625515Abstract: A method of manufacturing photonic band gap structures operable in the optical spectrum has been presented. The method comprises the steps of filling a plurality of grooves of an elastomeric mold with a UV curable first polymer, each groove in parallel with each other and partially curing the first polymer. A second polymer is coated on the first polymer. A substrate or a multi-layer polymer structure is placed on the filled mold and the resulting structure is exposed to UV light (i.e., is UV cured). The mold is peeled away from the first and second polymers such that a layer of polymer rods is formed on the substrate/multi-layer polymer structure. The process is repeated until a desired number of layers have been formed. The multi-layer structure can be used to create ceramic and metallic photonic band gaps by infiltration, electro-deposition, and/or metal coating.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2006Date of Patent: December 1, 2009Assignee: Iowa State University Research Foundation, Inc.Inventors: Jae-Hwang Lee, Kai-Ming Ho, Yong-Sung Kim, Kristen Constant, Chang-Hwan Kim

Publication number: 20090193015Abstract: A method of adaptively updating a first recommended user group list of a first user connected to a network, in which a predetermined number of second users are selected from the first recommend user group list that is a list of users having a high similarity to the first user in consuming contents. A predetermined number of third users having a high similarity to the first user is selected from second recommend user group lists respectively of the selected second users possess. The first recommend user group list is updated to include the selected third users. As the preference of a user changes, the recommend user group may be reconfigured with updated recommend users by reflecting a corresponding preference. Publication number: 20030225911Abstract: An Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4)-Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) communication method and apparatus for allowing an IPv6 home network to communicate with an IPv4 host are provided. In the IPv4-IPv6 communication method, upon receiving a web address from an IPv6 device of the IPv6 home network, an IPv4 address corresponding to the web address is inquired from a domain name system (DNS). Upon receiving the inquired IPv4 address, the IPv4 address is mapped to an IPv6 address. The mapped IPv4/IPv6 addresses are stored, and a connection to the IPv4 host is set. Data of a web page corresponding to the web address is received from the connected IPv4 host. The received data of the web page is transmitted to the IPv6 device by referring to the mapped IPv4/IPv6 addresses.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 11, 2003Publication date: December 4, 2003Applicant: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD.Inventors: Jae-Hwang Lee, Young-Keun Kim, Hak-Goo Lee, Sun-Woo Kim

Publication number: 20030185208Abstract: A method and apparatus for more efficiently operating a network environment, and more particularly, for discovery and change of a path maximum transmission unit (PMTU) between a source node and a destination node on a dynamic IP network is provided. A PMTU discovery packet is generated with a maximum transmission unit (MTU) information storage space in which an MTU value on a routing path between the source node and the destination node is stored, wherein the generated PMTU discovery packet is transmitted to the destination node. If a response packet to the PMTU discovery packet from the destination node is received, the PMTU is changed according to MTU information contained in the response packet. The MTU value stored in the MTU information storage space is compared with a link MTU value on a path which the PMTU discovery packet traverses, and the smaller one of the stored MTU value and the link MTU value on the path which the packet traverses is stored in the MTU information storage space.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 31, 2003Publication date: October 2, 2003Applicant: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO.,LTD.Inventors: Hak-Goo Lee, Young-Keun Kim, Sun-Woo Kim, Jae-Hwang Lee
