  • Patent number: 9910246
Abstract: An auto-focus system employing a tunable liquid crystal lens is provided that collects images at different optical power values as the liquid crystal molecules are excited between a ground state and a maximum optical power state tracking image focus scores. An image is acquired at a desired optical power value less than maximum optical power established with the liquid crystal molecules closer a fully excited state than the maximum optical power state having the same image focus score. This drive signal employed during image acquisition uses more power than was used to achieve the same optical power value during the auto-focus scan, while actively driving the liquid crystal molecules is fast. A pause due to image transfer/processing delays after acquisition is employed to allow slow relaxation of the liquid crystal molecules back to the ground state in preparation for a subsequent focus search.

  • Publication number: 20170353363
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing network operations are described. An illustrative system includes a plurality of network components, in which each network component generates a plurality of network component data, and a mediation node that receives the plurality of network component data. The mediation node associates a plurality of time series data and a network topology with the network component data. The mediation node includes at least one baseline module that receives a selected subset of the network component data and generates at least one baseline for anomaly detection. The system may further include at least one application component communicatively coupled to the mediation node, and the application component may receive the time series data, the plurality of subsets of the network component data, and a plurality of baselines and identify a relationship.

  • Patent number: 9836709
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for generating a visibility model for a project. In use, a plurality of systems associated with at least one project are identified. Additionally, information associated with the at least one project is received from the plurality of systems, the information including information corresponding to discrete activities associated with the at least one project and the information being received by a visibility model generation system that is separate from the plurality of systems. Further, the received information corresponding to the discrete activities is organized into common groups of work. In addition, at least one visibility model associated with the at least one project is generated utilizing the information corresponding to the discrete activities organized into common groups of work.

  • Patent number: 9821944
Abstract: This disclosure describes, in part, systems and methods for package deceleration and protection while packages are loaded into a bulk box. The packaging assembly includes an interference mechanism attached to a bulk box (e.g., a Gaylord container) by multiple elastic members. As packages are dropped into the bulk box, each package contacts the interference mechanism and the elastic members dampen the kinetic energy of the falling package, thereby reducing its velocity before the package continues into the bulk box.

  • Patent number: 9790787
Abstract: A logging while drilling tool for measuring a geological formation surrounding a wellbore includes a tool body having one or more sensor pads. Each sensor pad is coupled to the tool body by an extendable coupling that is operable to adjust the radial position of the sensor pad by extending away from or retracting toward the tool body. One or more sensors are mounted to each sensor pads and the sensors are operable to obtain a measurement a property of the formation. The tool also includes a downhole control unit having a transmitter and receiver. The downhole control unit is operable to receive the measurement and transmit the measurement to a surface controller, wherein the transmitted measurement indicates a measurement resolution.

  • Publication number: 20170280827
Abstract: An improved method for fastening shoes with shoelaces having a first end and an opposing second end includes a spanning member having a hole to accommodate the first end, and a slot preferably sized for an interference fit with the second end. The first end is passed through the hole and knotted, preventing it from passing back through the hole. The second end is pulled to tighten the shoelace, knotted and anchored in the slot, maintaining the taut shoelace securely in place. With multiple holes and multiple slots, the tautness of a shoelace can be adjusted. The spanning member remains in place on a shoe when not in use, held by the knot in the first end. For convenience, a user may tie another knot in the second end, with a loop sized to receive a finger, for easily grasping the second end and sliding it into a slot.
