  • Patent number: 9559536
Abstract: A state of charge indicator for providing an indication of a state of charge of a battery module includes an indicator light configured to emit a first wavelength of light representative of the state of charge of the battery module. The state of charge indicator also includes a connector configured to be removably coupled to a mating connector of the battery module. The connector includes a plurality of electrical contacts. The plurality of electrical contacts includes a first electrical contact configured to receive a signal from the battery module indicative of the state of charge of the battery module and to transmit the signal to the state of charge indicator to activate the indicator light.

Date of Patent: January 31, 2017
    Assignee: Johnson Controls Technology Company
Inventors: Daryl C. Brockman, James Cameron Douglass
  • Patent number: 9437850
Abstract: A battery module includes a battery management system disposed in a housing of the battery module. The battery management system is configured to monitor an operational parameter of the battery module. The battery management system is electrically coupled to a positive terminal and a negative terminal of the battery module. The battery module also includes a connector disposed in an outer surface of the housing. The connector includes a plurality of electrical contacts and is electrically coupled to the battery management system.

  • Patent number: 9431837
Abstract: A battery system includes a housing and a plurality of battery cells disposed in the housing. The battery system also includes a battery management system and configured to monitor one or more operational parameters of the battery system. The battery management system is electrically coupled to a positive terminal and a negative terminal of the battery system. Additionally, the battery system includes a multi-conductor connector disposed in an outer surface of the housing and electrically coupled to the battery management system. Further, the battery system includes a state of charge indicator configured to provide an indication of a state of charge of the battery system. The state of charge indicator includes a first multi-conductor connector configured to couple to the multi-conductor connector of the battery system.
