    Abstract: Methods and apparatus for controlling electrical energy in an engine-driven vehicle are provided. The vehicle includes a battery, a propulsive engine, and a starter-generator assembly coupled to the engine of the vehicle. The method includes supplying an electrical current from the battery to a starting winding of the starter-generator, supplying an electrical current to the battery from a generating winding of the starter-generator, and controlling the voltage of the starter-generator using a unitary, voltage regulator integrated with the starter-generator.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus for controlling energization of an appliance motor are described. The apparatus, in one embodiment, may include a condition responsive switch secured within an appliance motor casing to control the energization of the appliance motor windings. In one mode of operation, the condition responsive switch substantially prevents energization of the motor windings if at least one attachment has not been substantially properly secured to the appliance, and the switch substantially properly secured to the appliance.
