  • Patent number: 10728303
Abstract: In one example, the present disclosure describes a device, computer-readable medium, and method for improving media quality at the network edge by encoding the media into a digital stream that is carried, end-to-end, to a peer edge device. For instance, in one example, a method includes initiating, by a first computing device, a connection to a second computing device, selecting, by the first computing device, a codec for encoding data into a data stream, wherein the codec is selected such that the data stream can be decoded by the second computing device without being transcoded by an intermediary, encoding, by the first computing device, the data into the data stream using the codec, and sending, by the first computing device, the data stream to the second computing device.

  • Publication number: 20200195536
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes identifying, by a packet analyzer, one or more silence packets within a network and initiating, by the packet analyzer, a replacement of the one or more silence packets with one or more performance silence packets. The one or more performance silence packets are transmitted between a first node of the network and a second node of the network during a silence period. The method further includes receiving, by the packet analyzer, information associated with the one or more performance silence packets; and analyzing, by the packet analyzer, a connection between the first node of the network and the second node of the network using the information associated with the one or more performance silence packets.

  • Patent number: 10623571
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention involve providing automated assistance to an agent operating an agent terminal. A database stores an automated assistance session comprising communications between at least one client terminal and at least one agent terminal during a communication session. The automated assistance session is restored in response to a connection being reestablished with the client terminal after the client terminal disconnects during the communication session. A client communication is received from the client terminal, and a plurality of statements is determined based on the client communication and the communications of the automated assistance session stored in the database. The statements are configured to be manually selected by an agent or automatically selected by an automated agent. The automated agent is engaged for automatically selecting one of the statements in response to a predetermined condition.

  • Publication number: 20190349944
Abstract: Adaptive packet scheduling for interference mitigation is disclosed. Current spectral information can be compared to historical spectral information to determine a likelihood of a future interference event. Based on the furfure interference event, a data frame can be adapted to mitigate the effect of the future interference event on wireless communication. The interference event can be related to an unintentional interference source that can have distinct interference characteristics distinguishing it from an intentional interference source. Comparison can be facilitated by a data store storing historical interference information related to one or more historical interference events.

  • Publication number: 20190342151
Abstract: A method and system for managing performance of over a multimedia content distribution network (MCDN), such as a digital subscriber line network, involves receiving an indication of an impairment in network performance from an MCDN client. The MCDN node associated with the client may be identified and a community of MCDN clients coupled to the MCDN node may be further identified. Impairment information, representative of MCDN equipment, may be collected for each of the MCDN clients. Detailed network diagnostics and field service may be performed for MCDN clients based on a characterization of the impairment parameters. After remediation of the MCDN node, collection of the impairment information may be terminated.

  • Patent number: 10462752
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards transmitting content in a guard band (marginal/edge) spectrum, in which the power level corresponds to a frequency associated with the transmission. One or more criteria such as a desired quality of service level of the content to transmit, measured noise data and so on are used to select a guard band frequency/power level for the transmission. The content transmission within this spectrum, at a lower downlink sector power level that protects adjacent channel users, allows delivery of multicast/broadcast content to a broad population of devices in an area, for example, and frees up primary carrier channels for other communications such as voice and high speed data communications.
