  • Patent number: 10386571
Abstract: A system of light emitting diodes and lightguides can produce and distribute light in a luminaire. Two or more lightguides can be mounted adjacent one another so that their edges extend alongside one another. An optic can couple light between the light emitting diodes and the edges of the adjacent lightguides. The optic, which can be another lightguide in some examples, can mix, blend, or homogenize light received from the light emitting diodes and distribute the light among the adjacent lightguides. The optic can mix light emitted from multiple light emitting diodes so that light enters the adjacent lightguides uniformly along the edges of the lightguide, thereby eliminating or reducing any bright spots or visual inconsistencies. The optic can further allocate light uniformly among the adjacent lightguides.

  • Publication number: 20180350247
Abstract: A multisensory learning system incorporates a plurality of connectable multisensory elements. Each multisensory element may be a piece, a tile, or a block, and includes a surface containing a single character recessed into the surface to form a track. The track may guide a user's finger into the recessed area containing a tactile pattern at a base thereof. The tactile pattern heightens the sensory perception of the character to aid in learning. Each multisensory element is capable of being attached to another multisensory element in order to string characters together. In use, tracing of the tactile pattern of the character triggers the combination of sensations of kinesthetic learning through the motion of tracing and tactile learning through the feel of the tactile pattern in the recessed characters. This may be combined with audiovisual learning by looking at the character(s) and speaking the name.

  • Cap
    Patent number: 10124939
Abstract: A cap adapted to cover an end of a cask for maturation of a spirit, comprises a body having an outer plate and a flange extending from the outer plate, and an inner plate spaced from the outer plate. The inner plate lies between the outer plate and the end of the cask when the cap is in place on the end of the cask. A layered or ridged spacer can separate the plates, and can permit fluid transfer in the space between the plates. The inner plate can be resistant to vapor transfer, and can be pressed against the outer surface of the end of the cask when the cap is in place on the end of the cask, and leaves an annular area of the end of the cask uncovered.

  • Patent number: 10010983
Abstract: A member has a wave inhibitor adapted to control the effects of a wave of longitudinally displaced material positioned ahead of an expansion mandrel used to expand the member. The wave inhibitor has a decreasing transverse cross-sectional area to diminish the effects attributable to the wave, such as workpiece distortions, material upset of the workpiece, lengthening of the member, and excessively high strains in the workpiece. The wave inhibitor can also induce radially compressive stresses in the workpiece and produce an interference fit.
